LIVING IN THE PAST

There are times when we crave the past, we wish for things that have been before. And if I am to be honest, we wish we could change the present. I have been in such situations and I have come to understand that it is a normal phenomenon in human history and if I ever have the power to change things back to the way they are I would not. Not out of wickedness, but out of love. This is because with great power comes even greater responsibility and the world needs balance. Directly altering the normal way of life can cause effects that can never be predicted. And when such changes are made the world would try to balance itself and in the process could cause chaos that would be even more devastating than it was in the past.I believe in balance and altering it can be devastating. Imagine taking Nigeria back to how it was when the Naira was bigger than the dollar and pounds.

This would also mean that the Biafra war that followed would claim even more lives than it did then. And even if no one remembers what happens and everyone just finds themselves living life like it was before, the world itself will remember the change that happened and will try to balance it. Understand that the population of the earth today is 10 times what it was then, understand that the way people think today is way different from how people think then. There are a lot of variables that can not be accounted for, there are a lot of things we will never see coming and that makes uncertainty a really costly mistake.Even me making the change might lose even more. What if perhaps the only reason I got my powers was because of the absence of whatever I want to change in the past. Bringing that back will be making an irreversible mistake, one that will make me lose those powers and spell doom for the world.

Instead I will look at the goal I want, for example I want to take Nigeria back to how it was when it flourished, I will look into the variables that made only that possible and try to push the country into that direction. If I have to become president to do it, then I will find a way instead of directly altering the cause of nature and bringing a change with unknown variables in question. This way I will be preserving the lives of thousands and millions instead of just going after my selfish desires. Desire is something that has killed nations and wiped out generations, it has crumpled dynasties because people want to be remembered for causing great changes without thinking of the adverse effect. The fact that humans are unpredictable is another variable that is highly sensitive and if I am going to cause such change it would be with careful planning so my results are achieved the way I want them to be and even if there will be unexpected changes, it won’t be severe.
