If you have old people surrounding you like myself then the thoughts of retirement would probably have crossed your mind once or twice. Watching someone grow older makes you reflect on what your own future might look like.

My best friend which is my Father have a very close relationship. He is in his 60's and those grey hair on his head and chin constantly reminds me that time is moving fast. He still goes to work because he has responsibilities to handle but he often says to me that he is tired and talks about the interesting things he would love to do when he finally gets that break.
During those interesting conversations with my father, it got me thinking too how I would actually like to enjoy myself if money wasn't a problem again and I was officially retired.

Personally, I don't see retirement as spending the rest of your day or years lying on the bed, taking a stroll or slow walks and just recycling the same routine over and over. Honestly, I believe boredom and inactivity often kills faster. I see retirement as the days of doing those things that you enjoy. Its the days to make your heart beat faster and smile so hard.

A serene farm landscape

A farm is something I would love to manage if I were retired. And it's not for the money, I just find it interesting having to rear animals and also watch plants germinate. I would love to spend my retirement days appreciating nature and life more. It would almost be like how the garden of Eden in the Bible was portrayed where human were connected with nature. I would want to grow different kind of fruits and also have animals around( domestic one though).

Sketching in a quiet corner

Another activity that would definitely fill that space of inactivity is Art. I used to draw pretty good as a child but I guess life just got serious and abandoned it. So during my retirement days, I would love to pick up the pencil again and sketch as many beautiful things as possible, whether realistic or abstract.

On the very first day of retirement, I would order a truck load full of books. Reading would become my favorite daily habit. I love books that are thrilling especially books from authors like Sidney Sheldon and James Hardley Chase. Then maybe I might even get motivated to write a book myself. I would write creative fiction books and maybe stories of my journey, the triumphs and even the struggles faced during my heyday.

My adventurousness side would be explored during retirement. I would like to see the world, learn cultures of different people and take loads of pictures. I have always dreamed of visiting Paris and also Rome to see the Colosseum.

Honestly, I don't believe I would get bored at all during those years. Although I hope to retire early enough so I can have the energy to enjoy the activities I have planned. Retirement, to me, would not be the end of life, its a new chapter to explore and make yourself happy.
