I have always known that Time is an important factor in our daily lives. When not managed properly, it can cause so many things to go wrong and thus bring regrets. I have been in this position a couple of times and it seems like I don't even get to learn from these experiences because at the end of the day, I still find myself mismanaging time.
Sometimes, I ask myself why I find it hard to manage time. My husband on the other hand is a time conscious person. We have fallen out a couple of times because of my inability to keep to time. He has given up on me actually๐.
I remember something that happened to me in 2016. I was still in the university then and it was my project defense day. We all know that the most important course in the university is your project defense. In fact that's the day that we all pray and wish to smash too.
On the eve of my project defense, my room mate told me that she wouldn't be coming back home and that she would go to class from her boyfriend's house the next day.
Well, with that said, I decided to set my phone on alarm. She usually wakes up at 4am because that's when she gets up to do number 2. So that sound of the door and flushing the toilet always wake me up.
Since she was not going to be around, I told myself that the best thing to do was to set an alarm for 4am. So that I can prepare myself and also rehearse too for the big task ahead.
Alarm was set and off I went to bed.
At 4 am, the alarm started playing. It was so loud that it could wake a dead man. I quickly dived my phone and put it off and went back to sleep. In my mind, 4am was still early. I told myself that I would get ready by 5:30 because the project defense was so start by 7:30 am so that we can finish in time.
It was a loud knock on my burglary that woke me up. I jumped up and went to open the door. Lo and behold, my roommate was standing there and shouting at me. She asked me what was wrong with me because she has been calling me since and even my other course mates too. I told her I didn't see any call. She asked me what I was still doing in the house when I was suppose to be in school.
It dawned on me that I had overslept. I checked my phone and saw 51 missed calls. Apparently when I was putting off the alarm, I also turned off the ringtone volume too with my sleepy eyes. You needed to have seen me panicking that morning.
Time was past 10am. I was so sure that I had failed my project defence and coming back again next year for a repeat was the only solution.
I ran to school without having my bath. I just brushed my teeth and put on my clothes. To God be the glory, some people hadn't gone in because the external examiners were eating. I quickly joined the queue thinking that I would be called to the panel. When everyone remaining had gone in, I was the last person to enter the room.
My supervisor asked me why I was coming in now because my name had been called long ago. I lied to him that I ate something that made me run to the toilet every now and then. He told me that my name had been passed and that I will come back the next year.
I begged and begged but to no avail. I decided to visit my HOD and told him the truth about what had happened. He cautioned me and told me that he would look into it. At the end of the day, my supervisor asked me to pay him Hundred thousand naira. That money sounded like Hundred million to me. I cried that period and even had to pray and fast.
After a week, the supervisor called me one day and asked me to defend my project before him. I did and that was how I got out of the situation.
That period, I would arrive at any place at least 15mins before time. I learnt the hard way then. I had to learn that time waits for nobody at all. That little sleep may end up being sleeping for the whole day. So you have to get up and do what you have to do.
However recently, I have gone back to mismanaging time. I hope it doesn't put me into trouble again.

Oh my goodness ๐คญ๐คญ๐คญ
That early morning sleep almost caused you an extra year in the university if not for the supervisor that later showed you mercy . Indeed time wait for no one, if not managed well, it can have a great negative effects in our lives
I hope you learn your lesson and start being conscious of the time
It's not easy though but through self discipline, we can overcome to some an extent.
I learnt my lesson that period. I am back again to joking with time. I hope I get to understand that time truly waits for no one.

Many times the same thing happens to me in the morning, I keep setting the alarm and the alarm rings on its own time, but then it happens that sometimes laziness comes and I think that I should sleep for some more time. I go, then sleep seems so sweet that I don't even know the time.
You have made a very good point. It is just pure laziness that makes us think there is enough time instead of getting up at that time to do what we have to do
Time waits for no one, it is left for us to move with with time. While you relax and do nothing time is on the move and before you know it you are lagging behind.
You are very correct. That's the mistake so many people make. They feel that they have some more time.
