Making decisions is inevitable, in fact, they're proof of existence. We make decisions even when we think we're not, provided our thoughts are active and we're faced with challenges that come with our realities.
Decision-making is one of the most unique things about people, especially because a lot of people can collectively make the same decisions and the impact of their choices will still affect them differently.
This is why our lives work differently, our backgrounds, emotional maturity, history, race, nationality, or even gender are some of the reasons why our decisions irrespective of how it appears the same can still have different effect.
However, we all aim to achieve better results whenever we make decisions, but one reason why failure will always be part of that possibility is that we do not know the future, we're banking on what we think we know and hope they don't flip and turn out differently.
However, we can never guarantee that the things we bank on to make decisions will ever remain as they are. This is why the most salient ingredient in decision-making is hope.
The reason why it's hope is that it's not in our hands that everything we desire works. The fact that some of our decisions depend on other people to work is why there's a possibility of failure because humans are unpredictable.
Sometimes, people are luckier than others
There are times we've counted ourselves extremely lucky, and there are times luck isn't just on our side.
In life, we're Meant to be Lucky and unlucky, and because we cannot control when any of these possibilities happens to us, we can only hope that life accord us more luck.
As a person, most of my life decisions have always revolved around my health condition. This is because working towards staying alive and being healthy truncates every other aim and objective.
Because of this, I've lost out on so many good things in life, I've lost the opportunity to truly experience the beauty of life; be with the people I truly want to be with, say the things I truly want to say or unlock some certain potentials that could bring some of my goals to life.
This is to say that choosing solidity comes with disadvantages, but when there's life, every other outcome is possible. I value the gift of life a lot and this is because I've faced a lot of situations where I nearly lost mine because of my health conditions.
There are disadvantages to everything good in life, most of the time, we hardly take note of it because we're too focused on the advantages.
One of the things I've realized is that the mind of man is limitless and this is because this is where thousands of possibilities are woven.
However reality is always different from our imagination, no matter strong we are mentally, there are things we cannot achieve without our physical resolve, this is why we mostly imagine superlative things but our reality is nowhere near the things we imagine.
People mostly make decisions based on what they think is best for them
Sometimes we see their decision as foolishness from a third person's point of view, but the only way we can truly understand their decision is to be faced with their reality; have the same weakness as them, share the same health conditions as them, family background or even understand their perspective.
In reality, there are times we doubt our decisions, but in the end, we find comfort in doing the right thing. Life is majorly about compromise unless you have every ingredient to building the reality you want.
I feel that as humans we're not completely blessed with everything we want, be it good looks, good health, money, time, or success. Life puts us in positions where we always have to make compromises and while we might not exactly bend our lives to the reality we want, we take solace in achieving the primary things we need to survive. There are things I always wish I could do, knowing I might not be able to do them is painful. Life offers us possibilities, which we might not be strategically poised to take advantage of.
Sometimes, we make decisions to never go for what we want and sometimes we never give ourselves enough credit for making such sacrifices. Sacrificing happiness for stability is what we mostly face on a daily, and the opportunity cost of whatever compromise we choose is mostly underestimated and this is how we know we're superhumans.

Decision-making is like a coin. You don't know if you will get the head or tail when the coin flipped even when you chose the head.
I am working endlessly on my health too. I am trying and hoping I can stay a day without taking drugs. It is tiring I must confess. We are in the middle of the year and drugs and injections are now my companion though I hope not and I am still bent-willed on things getting better so I understand you.
There are decisions I have made that have helped me to this moment. My introverted and extroverted sides know when to unlock themselves without a switch.
To sum this all up, I do agree that;
We can't have it all.
It's important to understand that our body itself can be very mild and unpredictable, so I understand your fraustration due to taking drugs everyday. Just hang in there. It's a very good decision to keep doing that. Keep doing it. It'll not last forever, as I'm very sure you'll recover very soon. As for mine, my own health issues are even far more complicated, but in living and coping through it.
I am hanging oooo... Though on a thread but I am still hanging 😂😂.
I hope you get better too.
Hope is really that ingredient we all really need otherwise when things go bad we might not be able to continue. Hope is really it.
I am glad you are ok and doing better 🤗
Definitely. When it goes hay wire, hope is truly the only thing we can hold dear, especially when we need to hold on to something so as to keep going.
Yeah, thanks, how are you though?
I am doing ok, thank you.
Failure is possible but with Hope, failure has no place in our life's, we do not understand the decisions of others unless we tried to put ourselves in their positions, peoples are face with different challenges, that is why the things we do, like and admire are not the same.
This is insightful, I admire your post. It's made up with some amazing ingredients.
Failure is a possibility in life irrespective of faith or hope. It's that aspect of our reality that will always be there, we only fight each day to reduce the aspects of failure in our lives.
Like you've said, people are unique in their own ways and this is probably one of the reasons why our decision making will be different as well as the outcome too.
I prefer to first analyse the consequences before exploring the advantages when making most decisions. I think people often overlook the advantages while underestimating the disadvantages.
Sometimes, I used to tell myself that we can't have everything we supposedly need in life because of the cards we've been dealt with. Compromise is an important part of decision making. The hard aspect is choosing what to compromise. Present or future?
You're right, a lot of people underestimate the disadvantages. This is majorly because sometimes they're lost in the advantages and the prospect it gives them
I find the compromise of the future and the present to be really dicey and that's why I shy away from making that decision, but I think our future is important even if we think otherwise
I'll always choose the future over the present. There are benefits to delayed gratification, instant gratification carries long term consequences that are not always good for us.

One's decision making would always be influenced by one thing or many things sometimes, but there absolutely nothing they could do. It's either that or they risk it and not everyone loves to take risk. It all depends on the individual.
Risk itself is life. Sometimes we're subconsciously taking more risks than we know. Sometimes, it's just that we hate uncalculated risks which can put us in really unpleasant situations in life. But we just have to do our best with our decisions and hope for the best really.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on decision making. That has always been an intriguing topic for me.
Your very last paragraph is very powerful. Had to read it a few times. The idea that we're superhuman because we decide to choose stability over happiness is a complete twist. Making sacrifices these days is not often thought of as wise. Wise or not, it certainly is loving.
In reality, I think we're often faced with choosing happiness or stability, either in our jobs, marriage or relationship. Sometimes it could be choices we made for our kids or loved ones. We don't give ourselves enough credits when we make willful sacrifices.
You are right about this bro, I sometimes imagine the way we humans make decisions and we find out that some decisions we make are not for us but instead the best thing to do will come later on.. making decision is good but we need to be very careful when doing that..
As you've said, being careful is important. Sometimes the things she deem right might not really be. We usually make judgement based on what we deem to be right, but the truth is that we mostly Cannot see the future, so we cannot tell.
Yeah, you are right, and we as a human worry much about the future because we do not know what it holds for us
The truth is that we cannot do without making decisions but sometimes, making the right decisions may be quite difficult...
Exactly, the right decision often depends on parameters we might not even be able to control, TBH.
You are right, decisions are made intentionally or unintentionally on daily basis. Good job
Thank you
Learning to accept yourself - all your strengths and weakness - is the first true step to doing anything significant. From there you can weigh your options and pursue that which appeals to you most. The mantra of you can be whatever you want is a little too idealistic (for example, I'll never be an NBA player) - but the sentiment rings true in the sense that when you are fully at peace with who you are and what you want from life then nothing can stop you from achieving it.
