Whistle blowing is not for everyone

We are living in a society, and in a society, everyone wants to be happy and expects that people will do good work and maintain peace. Unfortunately, various kinds of people live in a society with for different thoughts, and there are even some evil people. Those people want to make chaos and try to take advantage of good people, and because of that, there are some rules in a society, and violating those rules means the person is bound to receive punishment. It is the same for a country, also, but the government cannot monitor everything directly. Because of that, the government or some organizations need to set up whistleblowers to understand the reality.

In a word, a whistleblower is one kind of spy who helps the government or organization to share about the real situation as an eyewitness and helps to get the real information, and helps to make some decisions indirectly. They are one kind of secret agent or undercover agent and protected by law, but their identity remains secret all the time to protect them from any kind of threat. Working as a whistleblower can be a good way to serve our nation and reveal the crimes of criminals that are not easy to notice from the surface. Now the question is, am I ready to do the work? Before making a decision, I need to consider several things.

My identity is the most important thing, and it should not be revealed no matter what. If my identity is revealed, my life can be in danger, and in my country, corruption is at a peak level, and I believe that it doesn’t matter how confidential my identity is; it will be revealed to the criminals. Maybe someone from my team will send the information to the criminals. Still, I would love to take the risk, but the consequences can be terrible. My family members can be victims of the anger of the criminals; at least I can say it based on the behavior of criminals in my country. As I can’t stop doing it, I won’t dare to be a whistleblower by risking the lives of my family members.

What if it’s possible to keep my identity hidden as well as keep my family safe? Will I choose to do so? I think it’s still enough now. I am a calculative person, and risk and gain should be balanced. I know even if they say identity will be hidden, there still exists a life risk, and my life is the most precious thing to me. I think I am not ready to sacrifice myself unless there is a high chance of gaining something. I mean, my salary should be good enough to live a good life. I think at least I deserve it if I am ready to take such a risk, and there is a stable fund for my family if something happens to me by accident.

Whatever I discuss is based on my rational thoughts, but I genuinely feel that I am not suitable for playing the role, even if it’s a good way to serve the nation. I know my capabilities, and I know in what field I can contribute more. People should be set in the perfect position to get the best outcome. And I feel my personality doesn’t fit as a whistleblower. I feel someone else who can play such a role better than me is suitable for it.
