Free will and the society

We are humans and we live in a society and in a society, there are many rules and restrictions. Sometimes it feels like those rules and restrictions are made to restrict our growth and sometimes we also seem true to me. But those rules and restrictions are made with good intention and for protecting us from evil thoughts of people. It’s because not all the people are good and so it’s necessary to bound everyone to the rules. So, does it mean our society is binding shackles to our free will.

Every person is different because all of us have a unique way of thinking about our lives. Nobody can judge us as nobody can fully understand us. And our success, failure, or achievement cannot be judged by others because other people cannot truly understand what we actually consider achievement for ourselves. Society indeed has some standards to judge a person, but it cannot be agreed by everyone because everyone is not the same. Let me share an example of it.

It was the time when I was in school. Before the board examination there were 5 weeks of holiday for taking preparation for exam. But my school decided to do compulsory coaching to train all the students, and the students wouldn’t get a chance to slack off. For a student who used to slack off were forced to study at the time and it was indeed a good thing for him, but it was a waste of my time. After attending a few classes I realized that going there was a waste of my time and what they were trying to teach us was known to me. I didn’t find any benefit there rather than losing my valuable time. So, I stopped attending there even if I was told as compulsory. School tried to force me to go there but I didn’t listen and I needed to use some superior references for not making things hard for me finally, school stopped bothering me. The outcome I was the first in the school in that examination. The rules set by the school were good for the average student but for me they were not good enough. I resisted and I broke through the situation according to my capabilities.

Society rules are also like that. Those are made for normal people and if we belong to normal as well as ordinary people, it never restricts our free will, but if we are good in some cases and we want to prove it to everyone, those rules start to resist, and there are many other things that create pressure on us. So, if you are trying to do something better staring around ordinary people, there is no free will for you. You need to break through the situation if you want to prove that you are right. But again, if society is for great people, the rules will act in your favor. So, it depends on the kind of society we are living in.
