Life is mysterious, and everything in life does not go according to plan. Sometimes life brings lots of surprises and shocks for us, which we cannot control. It doesn't matter how much we try, but we can try to reduce the impact of it if it's not good for us. Several times, the situation may not be in our favor, and we need to take a risk while we try to fix it. Risk involves the situation being against us if something happens opposite to our prediction. That's why it's necessary to understand the pros and cons before taking any risk, because sometimes we may not find any escape.

2025 was indeed one of the most successful years for me, and most of the things were in my favor, as I mentioned in some of my recent posts. In real life, I think there were not so many risks, as most of the things were in my favor. But related to finance, I have taken a very risky move. If you're honest, it was very risky, and I might not choose to take the step unless a special situation arises. The situation is related to crypto. I am a very calculative person, and finance-related decisions should be made based on understanding the risk.
I can't remember the exact date, but I guess it was 10th November or 12th November when a major crypto market crash occurred. I think you also witnessed it or suffered loss because of it. I was not different either. Within a single night, my portfolio was approximately 30% to 35% down, if I can remember correctly. To be honest, I never panic in such a situation because I am not an emotional trader. But I was trying to utilize such a situation to maximize my profit or recover my loss as fast as possible.
At the same time, the price SURGE presale event was ongoing. I got my SURGE, but because of the low HIVE price, the SURGE was available at 53/54 cents in dollar terms. The SURGE price is supposed to be $1 after the presale event. I thought about it, and so I sold all of my cryptocurrency, and I bought SURGE, as it was the way that seemed to have a 44% sure profit. I mean, it's something more than the loss I suffered. I thought after the presale event, I would sell my SURGE and buy back my crypto in large quantities. Unfortunately, SURGE couldn't maintain the $1 peg because people were ready to sell it at low prices. So, I didn't sell it, as I wasn't ready to sell below $1. So I kept waiting to see a $1 SURGE price to sell, but when I saw it, I couldn't sell, as it happened when I was asleep. But I think it was a blessing for me. I couldn't sell those, but I was getting 15% APR rewards per SURGE on a weekly basis, which was more than 20% compared to my investment. It was coming even though the SURGE price didn't reach $1 again.
You must be thinking I am saying it's a blessing because of the weekly rewards. Nope. You are wrong in that case. After I sold all my crypto, the market went down several times. And such a thing made me happy because I was not suffering loss in that case. After a couple of market crashes, I started to rebuy the crypto that I sold. But this time I borrowed a good amount of money from my little brother, as his funds were idle. So, I bought all the crypto at the same quantity that I sold, but it was cheap compared to the price I sold those crypto for. It means I could protect myself from several market crashes. Not only that, I was getting the rewards for holding SURGE. I am still holding those, and I will return the money to my little brother when the SURGE price comes to $1. So, it was a situation of suffering loss, but in my case, it turned out to be an opportunity to grab my crypto at a low price, and at the same time, I can return my little brother's money if he needs it, as the buying price of SURGE is still higher than my buying price. The only case I could suffer loss if the market recovered within a short time after crashes, but it didn't happen.
Will I take the same risk twice? I think I won't take such a risk usually unless a similar kind of situation appears. And I think it's not good to take risks again and again because I will not be the winner every time. Selling all of my cryptocurrency was the biggest risk of 2025, and fortunately, it actually gave me a profit and advantages, but I don't dare to take such a risk again.

It's a nice thing that you actually sold and bought surge. At least, you managed risks, and minimised loses.
I actually recovered losses easily as the price of Crypto came down more.

Last year I invested in some fabrics for the hair accessories business (I make bows, headbands and scrunchies), but I lost some of the fabric because out of ignorance I bought the wrong ones and they frayed.
Experiences like that teach you a lot.
That's true. Experience taught us a lot of things.
