Growing up, one thing I always struggled with was taking up my books to read. I had a really poor reading habit and I still do. I have always been interested in listening to people tell the story in a book rather reading it for myself. At some point when I was younger, liked reading, but most of the time, it was a struggle. I remember my dad always asking my siblings and I to read our books when we are back from school or rest and I always chose sleeping over reading but my siblings will choose reading instead.
I have always loved sleeping to reading but over time, even though I don’t still have a good reading habit, I have learnt to read. Thanks to a friend who loves reading so much. I have heard a lot of book lovers talk about the books they’ve read and it always leaves me in awe because I haven’t even read half of half of the things they have read and I find that really fascinating.
The last time I took out a physical book to read was months ago. Since I was growing this new found love for books and I was interested in becoming more of a reader, I stopped by at a book shop to get a book and that was the last book I tried to read. Most of the other books I read are my school books and PDFs which are soft copies. Right now, I’m writing my exams and that means I’m reading almost everyday but I’m sure it will be different if I didn’t have any exams I’m writing or preparing for.
The book I bought is titled ”LOVE WAITS”. It’s a book that I find a bit interesting. I actually didn’t buy the book based on reviews that have been made or anything. After searching for the book I wanted and I couldn’t find it, I decided to randomly get one and that’s how I got this particular book. I’m yet to complete the book though but it is about a girl who found love in the least possible place and she kept running away at first because she wasn’t sure how to approach those feelings she’s developed for another girl like her.
She finally dated her but before they were done with high school, the girl she dated found out that she was already sleeping around with other girls and they broke up. And since then, they never had anything to do with each other until 10 years later when they called for a school reunion. She is finding it hard to go for the reunion because she wasn’t sure of how to face her ex because she was definitely coming for the reunion since she was part of the organizers.
Well, I’m not sure what happens next because that’s where I stopped reading. I plan to complete the book once I’m done with my exams. And hopefully, I plan to also get more books to read too and hopefully keep developing a better habit towards reading. It won’t be easy but I think I really want to develop this habit because it is going to help me discover more things about myself that I’m probably doubtful about.
This is my response to the hivelearners topic on A READING HABIT.
Thank you for reading through. 💜

You are right Hope, many of us struggle with building a reading habit, especially with so many distractions around. It’s nice that you’re still trying and even bought a book....that’s a good start. Don’t rush it...just enjoy each page when you can...easy does it
