FREE BUT BOUNDED

Slavery has been for as long as I can even tell. Men always find ways to get themselves into bondage either intentionally for their own selfish benefits or because of ignorance due to an helpless situation they found themselves in. As the years roll by, slavery has been modified like every other illegal activity that has been for an as long as we can even tell. Humans are mostly unrepentant towards some activities, so instead of completely accepting those things that are wrong and change their ways, they look for a different way to commit their evils.

For this week’s hive learners topic, we are asked to discuss MODERN DAY SLAVERY. The truth is, the act of slavery is still going on almost like it was before but this time, it is a disguised form. And there are so many areas people practice these slavery acts. And the truth is, no matter how some things seem legal on the outside, it is only when the activities are thoroughly investigated before we can truly say they are legal or not. People know that slavery has been made illegal but then, that’s one quick way to make it big in the world today (using people), so they looked for a new way to go about it.

One way slavery might seem like a legal business is through orphanage homes. Yes. Not all but there is a high chances of using children in the orphanage homes for slavery because there is almost no one coming for them. These children are even young so it’s easy to indoctrinate them into thinking they are not slaves but that’s how the world works and they would never want to question things because they don’t even see anything wrong in what they do as that is how they were brought up. They grow up in ignorance and they become one of the perfect victims for modern day slavery.

Another way slavery could still be practiced is religion sects. Most people think it is God or their gods they are serving so they don’t even care whatever is done to them but it is also a way modern slavery can be practiced and no one can or will want to question it. If you try, you get flagged for judging a religious leader or group. But the truth can’t be hidden (we forget this too quickly).

Another modern day slavery is one borne from greed and selfishness. A lot of people have become too greedy and selfish to the point that they on their own accord accept to be slaves hoping to reap benefits from their master. This kind of slavery is the most rampant one and it also the hardest to solve because the individuals involved went in themselves. And besides these ones, there are others who go into slavery in their places of work, schools and other places but since the company is legal, no one even thinks towards that direction.

There are ways that could help eradicate slavery completely but it is not guaranteed because like I said, one of the modern day slavery is done voluntarily. But some ways that we can try to eradicate it completely is by keeping people in the know. When people lack the knowledge of something, they easily fall prey to it. And aside keeping them in the know, a good law should be enforced to protect victims.

Also, the government should look for ways to do random and frequent inspections in different places where people are being employed. If they can do this, it will keep those who are involved on their toes and it will save a lot of individuals from falling prey to their tactics.

For the part of religion, people should learn to just seek for the truth. Be open minded but then, always test everything that comes your way that poses to be from the God or gods you believe in. Being enslaved spiritually is another hard one to break out from.
