This Change Was Difficult To Align With

Seasons come and seasons go, but the earth still remains, and it does not belong to the supreme being; he is not in any way affected by the way it changes. The change in climate has been a top-notch topic for a long time now; scientists are, on a daily basis, trying to discover why the climate changes the way it does. In my country, Nigeria, we celebrate two different seasons, which are the rainy and dry seasons.

If any of the seasons has been delayed, it will affect the coming season, which will in turn have a negative effect on humans.For some years now we have suffered so much in my country because there is serious change in the climatic condition. The dry season didn't start when it was supposed to start, so it affected when rain was to start and yield in fruits. Fruits became so expensive that the most common fruit, which is the orange, is not so affordable to the common man.

Last year too there was a serious delay of when rain came, so people that planted crops so early lost them to dryness, and the rain stopped suddenly, so pesticides destroyed the crops too. Farmers cried so much because they had spent so much both in manpower and chemicals.What I experienced this last dry season and heat period was so much; it was the peak of my pregnancy, so it was not so easy. I told my husband that I have not felt it that way because most nights I will feel as if I were staying inside the oven.

The heat was so unbearable that I bathed over ten times in a day and was still not satisfied. During the morning hours, I am so fine, but the moment it's getting to 11 am, my temperature will change so much till late at night.It was so much that I prayed so much that my EDD comes so fast. When I finally gave birth, my baby was so much affected. Can you imagine a few hours-old baby sleeping with a fan and all the windows open, but when the nurse came to check on us that night around 12am, she said we should remove his cap and change his clothes because it was already soaked with sweat?

That is to tell you the extent of the hotness of the weather in my place.I prayed for a change in weather, and finally it came. My baby sleeps like a baby now; he just wakes to eat, play, and go back to sleep without much stress, unlike when the weather was hot. Last year the government announced that some areas will be faced with flood issues. Some persons made a move to protect their environment by clearing the drainages so water will have a free flow, while some persons did nothing about it.

There was this heavy rain that destroyed lots of properties last year. I can remember running to our site last year to check on our blocks because, from what we saw over the internet, it carried off people's houses, blocks, and more, especially those living close to the waterway.The story I hear about how floods destroyed people's properties and even packed their mattresses and birds is not one that I wish that someone who calls himself an enemy should experience because it can be so disastrous.

Imagine what happened at Borno last year and how many people lost their lives and properties. On our own parts as humans, we need to be careful and do our best by making sure we dispose of our waste properly and avoid blocking the waterways.
