Fear Is One Major Thing That Sends One Out

Greetings to you all, my beautiful friends in this community and beyond. Today is the first working day of this week. I do wish you all a blessed week ahead and pray you conquer all your fears this new week. Even a child that is being carried is so scared of falling; even my baby in my arms most times holds himself so strongly when you throw him up because of this fear of coming down.

Gradually kids learn to do things as they grow in their beliefs that it is normal to fall but abnormal to remain in the fallen state.I am that one person who finds it so easy to learn crafts; many a time, just by observation, I get to learn what someone is doing. One skill that was so difficult for me to acquire was the skill of bicycle riding. When I found myself in Enugu State after my senior secondary examination, I got to discover that almost everyone in that particular community knows how to ride a bicycle and a motorbike.

It was a big challenge for me to handle just because I was so full of fear of the unknown. Some things I battled with were how to paddle and at the same time maintain my focus. This struggle continued until one day I decided to take the bull by the horns, and that was the decision that almost landed me in a well filled with water but was abandoned. My heart almost left me because of the way people around me were shouting when I was heading straight to that well and the most terrifying moment of my life.

Do you know what even the worst thing was? The fact that there was no brake on that bicycle. How I managed to stop the bicycle with my legs is still something I can't relate to to this day. Going forward, fear left me, and my confidence grew drastically. To say why it was difficult for me to learn that skill is so difficult for me to pinpoint at the moment, but one thing I can say is where I was coming from was much more exposed compared with my uncle's residence, which was a rural area at that time. In my place, we are not so used to seeing women riding this big bicycle.

Mastering the skill is an understatement for me; I was so good at riding to the point that when I returned to my base, I began using my brother's bicycle to go to the market, which made my work and transportation to these areas cheaper because I didn't have to spend a dime any longer. Learning new things is not in any way easy because, to gain mastery in a particular thing, one has to be so focused with full determination to face whatever obstacle that may come with it.

In addition to this, the ability to overcome fear is a good way forward for anyone who wants to make visible progress in life. This is my entry for the Hive Learners Contest Week 170 and the first edition. Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

Same here oo. I even started with a bicycle that had no tires but just rim alone. 😂. The day I ride the one with tires I felt a different world. But it was all fun. What matters is battling the fears

Hmm...till today, I don't think anyone would be able to convince me to climb it not to talk of riding it. That's just one thing out the many things I don't think I would be trying in the near future.

Thank God you figured it out. You conquered your fears, gave it multiple trails and now you are perfect at it
