Casting Our Mind Back The Good, Bad And Ugly
Nigeria is one with lots of history surrounding her. We all started on a good note until many things fell apart. We are one of the countries in the West African states. Nigeria has a healthy cultural heritage; we have over 300 languages in my country, but the three major languages that are noticed are Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba. Each of the tribes does have a unique thing that is attached to them. Nigeria is known to be the giant of Africa.
We always make it proud to say that it is difficult for you to visit any country, and you don't meet a Nigerian there. We are so hardworking and have a strong spirit of craftsmanship. One major history that to date still has some effect on my dear country is the war that happened some good years back. The Biafran was the major thing that has had a negative effect on our dear country.
This war is popularly known as the Nigerian Civil War. This war broke out in the year 1967 and lasted till 1970. This war came as a result of disbelief in the various tribes in the country. The Igbos felt so much marginalized and went ahead to seek a redress, which led to a breakout. The war was so devastating because many people lost their lives in the process, homes were destroyed, and businesses lost their flavor.
Sometimes my mother tells us how it went; she said her mother was doing so well as a businesswoman. She was trading on fresh fish, and they didn't have to feel the hunger during the war. Many people lost their lives during this process because there was little or no available food for people to eat. Those that became ill in the process died because no drugs were provided to take care of the different illnesses.
One major effect that the war has caused for us is that we no longer have so much respect for each other. It is difficult for each tribe to accept each other with all their heart; there is always a reservation. The government has done all within its power to bring about reconciliation by introducing the National Youth Service Corps, which allows graduates to visit other states for a period of one year so as to serve the country. Through this process, many young people got established in life, and some also met with their life partners there. In my case, I got to meet with my husband during his service year, and I was also preparing for my service too.
To date, the main issue has not been addressed, which is to say that there is likely to be a repeat of the 1967 experience, which may be more devastating than the previous. To date, Igbos are still being marginalized, and they still cry out for a change. So to avoid the past from repeating itself, it is important for the government to look into their plea by addressing the issue at hand rather than politicizing everything.

The effects of the war has instill fear in the lives of many that even radiate into some relationship which has been badly affected
There is always a relation to what happened in the past which makes most relationship go bad
There are a lot of problems in civil war and if a war breaks out between the people living inside the country then it is very difficult to control it. When there is a war with foreign countries then it takes place on the border and its effect is felt only in the border areas but civil war is very difficult and the common people have to face a lot of problems in it. Many types of factions are formed within the country itself and it becomes very difficult to control the situation.
That's the truth, we just pray for a more controlled measure to the effect so far
