When Science Goes Too Far

Science and technology have indeed been a blessing to mankind. As the world evolves, we've recorded great improvements in many aspects, if not all, of life, from medicine, education, production, and entertainment, etc. But as much as the good science has brought to us, we can't ignore the accompanied bad sides.

Let's take medicine, for instance, the mortality rate compared to the old days has experienced a great decrease, gone are those days when pregnant mothers and infants faced unimaginable risks during pregnancy and childbirth. It was common to see a mother give birth to as many as 15 children and have only 5 to 6 survivors, My grandmother experienced the same, but today, advances in medical technology, such as ultrasound and fetal monitoring, have significantly improved prenatal care, allowing for early detection and management of complications. Some vaccines and antibiotics have saved many of us, preventing major illnesses in the future, because these vaccines are compulsorily given to children during their first five years, thereby eradicating diseases that were once deadly such as measles, chicken pox, etc.

But today, we see healthy adults wake up one morning and choose to belong to another gender, they don't just crossdress alone, they go as far as going for gender change surgery, I believe science has gone too far in this aspect. Yes, you might want to enhance your body at your own health risk, but why go as far as to undergo gender change? You are not only confusing yourself and people around you, but you are also telling your creator, he made a mistake, and trust me, God is not the author of confusion, we have overdone it in this aspect.

Another aspect science has ovedone itself is the manufacture of Nuclear weapons, if you've been up to date in the recent news, you must have seen the news about the war between Iran and israel, countries fighting coutry, some feeling overpowerful because they've got nuclear weapons that could wipe out the whole city, we also saw what happened between Russia and Ukraine, I always say that war is never a solution to bringing peace, rather we end up losing millions of life, and the few tht are left behind suffer the aftermath of this war, living in poverty, famine, because their land has been pollutes due to these nuclear weapons, there is also the case of sicknesses due to exposure to radiation from these weapons.

In both of these cases, we've seen science and technology push their boundaries, sometimes these consequences might be unintended, but the time we realize it, we've gone too far. While advancements in medicine have saved countless lives, I believe we should understand limits and consider ethics. Questions like 'What threat would this invention cause to humanity' should be thoroughly analyzed, We should also consider limits, as sometimes these inventions might truly come from a place of genuine reason and usage, but our overuse and greed cause us more than we bargain for.

In conclusion, it is important we acknowledge that science and technology are tools, not ends in themselves. They should serve humanity, not the other way round.
