"Education is a scam" is a common phrase you would hear from the mouths of the youths today, and it's not just a phrase coined from a mere saying, but from the struggles and experiences of the youths. Education is the key to success is what we were told right from childhood, and indeed, in those days, it was worth the stress, as graduates were immediately provided with opportunities to put what they were taught in school to good use, and were able to rise and support their families, but today, the story has changed.
In a country where graduates only go to school with the hopes of getting a high-paying job after, only to be disappointed with unemployment because the job market is now saturated, then they begin to wonder, why waste so much money and years in school when, at the end of the day, you venture into something else? You see a biochemistry graduate become a fashion designer,i've seen a chemistry graduate be a photographer, and the worst of it all, a physics graduate become a tricycle driver.
In my opinion, I don't think education is a scam. We just had the wrong perspective about it, like some will say, fulfilling all righteousness, because that is the path that the society has laid down for us, and it's high time we change that directive. Some illiterates do better than so called graduates today, because they were focused on acquiring skill and creating employment for themselves and others rather that wait or look forward to it like gradutes do, only if we change our perspective, pick up skills than we term ae meant for illiterates and do better than them, because no matter what you think, having the right education accompanied by a skill set, will put you in a positon you won't consider education a scam.
Today, i'm a fashion designer, and as unreal as it might sound to some, do you know that some mathematical formulas and some parts of clothing design go hand in hand, formulas like finding the circumference of a circle makes the process of cuttin s flare design easier, rather than doing trial and error like those that did not have the opportunity of going to school, as they end up waisting fabric and consuming too much time, I remember showing an illiterate fashion designer this trick and she was wowed, so you see, education is not a scam, it's just left for us to take the bold step as we are no longer in the former times were it automatically creates job opportunities for us.
We can't ignore the fact that our school system needs to do more, the lack of experience by most graduates is what makes them feel scammed after school. Most of them spend their years in school cramming and trying to pass exams, not really providing solutions in the real world. In the Nigerian school setting for instance, lecturers spend more time on theories than practicals; all these make education seem useless to students.

I get your point clearly. Education is not a scam, but the way we were made to see it is the problem. These days, skills plus education go hand in hand, and that’s really where the value shows.
Exactly, we need to change our perspective on education.
