Creative Sunday | DIY 3D Applique

(edited)

Happy Sunday dear hivers, hope you are all having a lovely weekend, it's been a fantastic one for me, as I got to celebrate my birthday as well as my sister's traditional marriage ceremony yesterday. The more fun part was having to make our outfits for the occasion, though stressful as the duration I had to make both outfits was short, I'm happy it still turned out successful

On today's creative Sunday edition, I will be sharing with us one unique creative part added to elevate my sister's bridal look, it's called 3D applique, it adds that extra glamour to a bride's look, and not only can it be added to a dress, it can also be used for other creative diy purpose, like a bridal hand fan, and an take any form.

Without further ado, let's get right into the making process.

Materials used

  • Organza fabric
  • hemming gum
  • crinoline net
  • fabric gum
  • cup chain/stone chain
  • The first process was to place the hemming gum in between the crinoline net and organza, then iron it until the hemming gum disappeared, I also did the same process on the other side of the crinoline net, making sure the organza was at both sides of the net,

  • The quantity of fabric and crinoline net used depends on how much of the applique shape you will be cutting out.
  • For me, I wanted my shape to be leaf-like, so I used a real leaf as a template, cutting many leaf shapes out of the ironed, now sturdy fabric.

  • Next, I applied the fabric gum around the cut-out leaf shape and also on a straight line in the center, and placed the cup chains directly on the gummed area.

Which results in the beautiful 3D applique, I just placed them in twos and threes before attaching them to the structure of the dress.

And that completes the making process of a 3d applique.

Thank you for reading.❤❤

Such a brilliant way to add elegance and uniqueness to a bridal look. The 3D applique process is well-explained, and the use of organza and crinoline gives it that luxurious feel. Perfect for anyone looking to elevate their wedding attire with a personal touch. Thank you for sharing.
