Creating a 3D Fabric Floral Appliqué for a Traditional Bridal Outfit

Happy Sunday dear Hivers, hope you are all having a lovely weekend, it's another exciting edition of the Hive Learners creative Sunday, where we share our diverse talents or fun activities, and today I will be sharing with us how I made a 3d fabric floral applique which I used in designing a bride's traditional outfit.

So a friend of mine reached out to me on Monday with a surprise invite to her traditional wedding coming up on Sunday, the more shocking part was that I had less than a week to make her a dress, knowing my friend, wouldn't want a simple straight forward style, she is all about glamour, sparkles and elegance,

I am glad to have fulfilled her desire, making this dress, even with having a very hectic week trying to fulfill other personal obligations, one of the stylish effects of the dress that made it stand out is what I would be sharing with us today. To get the full process of how I made this dress, look forward to my needleworkmonday post tomorrow.

Materials Used

  • Satin Fabric
  • Crinoline mesh
  • hemming gum
  • cup chain/ rhinestones
  • Fabri gum

Process

  • I started by placing the crinoline mesh and hemming gum in between two cut-out-sized satin fabrics. Then, I ironed it to melt the gum and crinoline mesh into the fabric, which helped give durability to the pattern structure.

  • Next, I cut out the pieces of the desired shaped pattern, you can make any pattern of your choice, like leafy shape, floral pattern, hearts, etc

  • Next, using the fabric gum, I put it around the edges of the pattern and also made a circle at the center.

  • Finally, I placed the chain stone around the edges of the pattern, where the gum has been smeared before

And that completes this beautiful 3d applique process.
