Hopefully, A New Adventure This Year.

Holidays are essential for every human; we definitely need that break from those strenuous activities we go through just to pay bills and put food on the table.

During those years at my previous workplace, I always looked forward to holidays because that's when I got to spend quality time with my family. It was very funny how we lived in the same state but barely had time to see each other. I worked six days a week, and my Sundays were just to prepare for the new week after church service.

The hustle was real, but holidays always made the difference for not just me but many people across the world. Creating time for us to unwind, recharge, and reconnect with our loved ones or the things we love doing.

I usually don't observe the holidays before the end of the year because of their duration; two days won't do any magic for me if I hit the road to celebrate short holidays with my family. During short holidays, I prefer to relax at home watching movies, eating, and sleeping as much as I can, but for long holidays, it's always different.

The only thing that always delayed me at work then was my hamper, the company's gift alongside some cash. Once it was the 22nd, I was gone and wouldn't resume until the second week of the year, and it used to be fun taking time off work.

Nothing has changed really because, despite living with my family again, I still always look forward to spending the holidays with them because going around during the festive season can be quite challenging. Hikes in bus fares and traffic have ruined my outings several times, so I just love to stay indoors to have fun with family low-key.

If I must go out to hang out with the whole family or just my wife, it actually doesn't fall on holidays. That way, everything feels normal, and I don't have to start hustling for space or seats at different fun centers.

I thought about it now, and the next holiday I will observe still falls towards the end of the year, but there are chances I might try something different this year.

My job gives me the privilege to take holidays whenever I want; I really don't have to wait for anyone's permission, but when your holiday involves family, you just have to wait till the end of the year.

My chances of going to Ogun State towards the end of the year are high, which should count as a holiday because I am just going there for fun and family. I have been to the state a few times, but it was just a quick visit and one time for a small celebration.

Aside from checking out some fun spots my wife has bragged about since it's her hometown, I have a few friends in the state and will hook up with them just to catch up with each other because we don't know when such an opportunity will pop up again.

This time, I might spend 2-3 days just relaxing and having fun. It wouldn't just be me; my wife is very involved, so we are definitely going to enjoy the trip together.

It's been an amazing year so far, and it would be good to just step out of my regular holiday routine after a long time. I would join my family once I am back and we can enjoy that awesome family time together as usual.
