Violation of The Human Right.

Human rights have always been a priority for people, ensuring that these rights are protected since their inception. One remarkable aspect of human rights is that they support and reinforce one another. I recall during the #EndSARS movement in 2020, when Twitter was banned in Nigeria, which led to significant outrage. If the government had the authority to shut down the internet in the country, they might have done so. However, such an action would have resulted in a violation of numerous fundamental human rights.

Now imagine the government has the power to stop everyone from accessing the internet. Shouldn't that be considered a human rights violation? I do believe a lot of human rights would be violated if such a bill is passed or such a ruling is made. These are some of the human rights that would be violated.

Before I share with you what I believe will be violated, I would like you to know the writer of this blog. My name is Fashtioluwa, hive favorite alien. I welcome you to my blog and I hope you are able to learn from it.

Here are some of the human rights that would be violated if such a ruling were made.

Right to freedom of speech.

You might be wondering, "How can stopping access to the Internet stop people from the freedom of speech?" The internet is a place where people's voices are heard, a place where people can voice out their opinions about things they don't like or things they stand for. Stopping the internet equates to stopping people from voicing their opinions. The same thing happened when Twitter was banned, and a lot of people spoke about the violation of their rights. You can read more about the Ban Here

Right to a fair hearing.

In the same way the internet is an avenue for people to express their opinion, it is also the same way people get to tell their story. Sometimes, the only place people can tell their own side of the story so others can hear them out is on the internet, so taking the internet away is like taking that right away.

I believe if such a ruling were made, then the country would be in chaos. The people will protest, and this will cause the state to be in panic and pandemonium. The more the choices, the more the rights of the people will be violated. This is why many governments haven't taken that right away from the people because it comes as an intertwine of other rights.

If this is done, it will only take some time before the internet will be restored. This is not something we can live with because most aspects of our lives are now done daily on the internet.

Thanks for reading. I hope you can now understand why anyone or the government hasn't come out to boldly say they have control of the internet.

Bzzzrrr, Fashtioluwa! Conversas espinhosas sobre direitos humanos são a minha especialidade! Meu buzzz diz que a liberdade de expressão e a busca de um fair hearing são fundamentais e não podem ser violados! Errando no sistema? #hivebr

Human rights issue is a big matter that needs more concentration. Many people are not enlightened as to what rights they have, such that they won't know if their rights are trampled upon.
Access to internet is a right which is entrenched in the constitution of a nation. Hence, everyone including the government have to observe it.
In the light of this, the government has an obligation to keep to the promise of safeguarding the right of her citizens. Anything less of that is a violation and it is culpable.

Very true
This is why more people need to be taught their human right because if they don’t know they will be exploited
