The people's voice
One of the most important fundamentals of citizen of a country is the right to freedom of speech. This right was implemented so that citizens can verbally express themselves as regard to the affairs of the country, also to discover truth and make social progress where need be. I believe citizens knows what's best for them so when they air out what's bothering them, it's left for the government to make the necessary changes for the growth of the country.
But then can our rights to free speech be taken from us? I don't think right to freedom of speech can be denied totally but for some reasons it can be limited when they tend to abuse the privilege such as using abusive words/slander. I don't know if the information that was sent to me some months back was legit because from the recording it states that anyone who says ill about the government would be apprehended for saying such as it is absolutely wrong to do so. In some occasions, I have seen in the government house how some individuals were stoped from speaking because they were saying the truth. Apparently it's rare to see people saying their minds because of fear of the unknown and intimidation.
A lot of people have been intimidated for saying what is supposed to be true while some are literally scared cause no one wants to loose his or her life. Fear has so much grip the heart of the people because whoever try to speak out is either found died or any of his immediate family goes on his behalf which is one of the reason everyone is keeping shut and just watch how the country's end would be because no one is ready to sacrifice their lives. Come to think of it who really would sacrifice his or her life knowing fully well that our patriotic past heroes of blessed memory who fought to ensure justice prevailed in the land seems like they fought a battle in vain.
Staying silent due to fear of the repercussions is sure an infringement of our rights because as citizens of a country we shouldn't be sacred to voice out when need be even when the government is trying or not. Infact it should be something done with so much courage and if reverse is the case then it's sure an infringement to our rights. The essence of democracy should be fully represented after all government is not just for an individual rather it constitutes of the people generally.
The country sure needs to go back to its old ways where everyone is willing to voice out their opinions on any issues they dim fit to talk about by this way the country will sure grow for good and each and every one of us would be so happy.
We must fight every day to have freedom of expression as a right.
