A place away from home

It has always been on my wish list to embark on a solo trip before I reach my thirties, and so the idea to me is always a welcome one to me. The feeling of being far away from home just me alone, exploring and appreciating nature's gift, gives me butterflies in my tummy. 😊

If money will or is not the problem, a solo trip is something I will recommend to every adult to experience before they get entangled with life's hassle. First I will advise that you go alone before even planning to go with a spouse because both experiences can never be the same feelings. So if the resources won't be an issue, why not. Writing this piece now has brought so much imagination and currently I feel like I'm embarking on one. Driving through different path ways, enjoying my music and singing out loud like one that has lost it, enjoying nature's creation with both eyes and mouth wide open just saying wow, wow. Trying out different new delicacies is not left out because what's a solo trip without food? absolutely nothing. 😄 OMG this imagination is wild. So yes I will definitely embark on one because Nigeria is a beautiful country with lots of exciting places that have attracted foreigners to come check it with each leaving with beautiful testimonials.

It's just unfortunate that things went south along the way and embarking on this kind of journey imposes as a treat especially by land. Toward the second quarter of the year 2025, I came across a delightful post of a blogger who left the capital city Abuja and traveled down here to the north Kaduna state to explore. She came down here to visit a beautiful ancient tower. I really do not know if it was her visit that gave people the courage to come visit that town once again because after I came across her vlog I started seeing others visit the place. Just when everything was beginning to be okay, the last time I came across a vlog about that place was when an influencer escaped from the hands of herdsmen and that was all. This is one of the factors that will discourage me from going on a solo trip. Because the safety of the people is not guaranteed. Nigeria is no longer a safe place and her government is doing little or nothing about it. I think the number of tourists coming into the country yearly has drastically reduced too.

As a result of that, I do not think I would want to embark on a solo trip for now. Because no matter the excitement I would get from that trip, my safety comes first. And if I must embark on one, I prefer going across the borders of this country to experience a life different from the one I have known all my life.

I really hope they fix this security issue. It would be really nice to be able to go on these solo trips. It's something I'm sure I'd do once I get a car.
