RE: AI IS THE ENEMY? NO, WE ARE.____WEEK 237(ED2)

People are always scared of what they don't understand and let's not forget there's an elemnt of "protectionism" in some of the more vocal opponents. Artists for example are worried they will be replaced by AI when people like you and I resort to creating our own images through it. The key question is: "I have an image in my head or at least a picture I'd like to have but I'm rubbish at drawing and I certainly don't have the money to pay someone." should you be blocked from creating an impressive piece of work overall simply because a picture wasn't created by a human?

EVERYTHING can be used for evil purposes, it's how we protect ourselves that's important.

Thank you so much for this perspective @dickturpin, you made a very valid point!

I agree with you that fear of the unknown and protectionism is real. Like you said, if someone has an image in their head but cannot draw and cannot pay an artist, AI gives them a voice — and that should not be blocked simply because a human did not draw it.

Where my heart really broke in this story I wrote is the part where it was someone I know. It was not just an art, it was her face, her voice, used without her consent, and the comment section believed it was her. That is where I felt — AI is not the enemy, WE are, how we use it.

Like you rightly said at the end, EVERYTHING can be used for evil, it's how we protect ourselves that's important. Thank you for reading and for adding this balance to the conversation!
