That Important Work Tool
As workers, in various fields and endeavours, some tools make our work go well and successful. Some of them are a must-have. Others are peripherals, and can do without them though they could be of great use and benefit. Whether machines, basic items or devices, these tools are necessary for the success of our work. Think of every profession, skill and craft, there are tools that could be pointed out which aid the craftsman, the skilled individual or the professional to execute their work.
My work, both professionally and skill-wise have tools that help to achieve what I intend to or need to. I guess it's wrong to think we do all the work by ourselves without acknowledging the role of the tools we need, which aid us. Until we lose them, we might fail to recognise their help. This is why in some fields, skills or crafts, it's necessary to learn how to use these tools, be it physical or digital. Proper and efficient use, makes for good results. And sometimes we can't do work without some tools.
Well, I've come to realise the importance of tools to my work. But one is very important. It could affect my productivity or the possibility of work if unavailable. My laptop is that tool. A device but a very necessary and helpful tool in my work. As a graphic designer, and a video editor, this is really imperative for my work. I know there are ways to go about these things today without the laptop which I've tested. One thing that stands out about the necessity of the laptop for this work is that it provides more productivity and efficiency.
There are apps available on phones and tablets that are leveraged to provide these services, which in a way seems nice. Like the idea of mobility; to do my work almost anywhere as long as I have my phone which definitely goes with me basically everywhere. I've tested this advantage and it feels good. However, there's a limit to what can be done with these apps and the phone. Some tasks/work are too huge and bulky to easily manage on anything other than the laptop, and the software to carry out the work.
It's not just about the laptop, but also the sophisticated software as opposed to the phone versions. And when I go to my professional lane, the laptop is a must-have for my work. I can't do it with the phone or tablet. This isn't a comparison though. But that one tool, that device, that gadget I really need for smooth work in my skill and a necessity in my professional field is a good working laptop. Not just a laptop, but a good working one with specs that resonate for the intended use or purposes.
I could have just said a computer device in general and this would mean desktops too, which by the way, the sophisticated ones are very good. But I like the little mobility a laptop offers; to move with my laptop in cases where I need to. Yes, sometimes there's a need, especially with the light issues we have in this part of the world. So, one important tool that my work needs for better productivity is a good, functional laptop. I won't be going into the specs here, but a good and functional one is necessary for the basics. Of course there are other important tools.
Tools are very crucial in bringing work to reality. You are right when you said we may not know how valuable a tool is until it's not available.
My phone is also one of the tools I use almost everyday. Thank God it is easy carry about, work can now be done anywhere..
