Acknowledging the Good, Addressing the Bad

There's a lot to be said when it comes to discussions about a country and its happenings. There are certainly things to be examined and considered. What comes out of such examination, in honesty and truthfulness reflects the current state of things and the happenings within it. There's much to speak about when I consider the happenings in my country; from time past, to recent dealings even up to the present day events and realities.

History reveals beautiful moments, and terrible ones. Even in recent times, there's the good and the bad that we can see and talk about. It's sad that it's mostly hard to find something good to talk about in my country. What can one expect when on a scale, the weight of the bad deeds far outweighs the good? It's either emanating from the leaders, mostly; directly or indirectly, or the people. As such, even when good things deserving of applause happen, they barely enjoy the spotlights, not enough before another bad deed takes it.

That's the reality. While this is true of my country; that bad deeds overwhelm the good, there's nonetheless the good that can be considered and talked of, even in recent times. One of the few things that I've come to see and appreciate is the road construction work. Some time back last year, I travelled home and when I reached the town I reside in, it seemed different to me. There was a new road network and it was looking good, with an underpass and all.

Also, in a few other places I've stepped my feet, this is the case and I must say it's laudable. I've seen on the news network as well, and from other people's testimonies about this from locations far from mine. It seems it's something that's happening around several parts of the country. In that regard, I duly applaud the government and authorities that made this possible. As I said, there are still some good things that can be considered and talked about even though we're overwhelmed by bad happenings far more than the good.

It's easy to point out bad things happening in my country. You could sleep for a few minutes, and when you woke, something bad would have happened, with little or no repercussions. I can say a lot, from the poor health care system to the poor education system. It reflects how unconcerned and negligent the government is about matters that should matter a lot. But I'll be considering one, and this is something that citizens have cried and complained about. Yet, it's still happening. I'm talking about the situation of insecurity.

Sadly, people don't feel safe. To travel or leave home and come back safely is a great concern. If the security of the people is tampered with, and endlessly over time as it has been here, then there's failure from the government because it's one of its fundamental duties-to protect the lives of citizens. Some weeks back, a recent attack in a rural area revealed the mass killing of more than one hundred people. If there's a thing that saddens me about my country, it's this matter of insecurity. Who will enjoy the infrastructure, economy or technology when the people are no more?

The bad things are the one overshadowimg the good, and whatever we do now is just to pray for our generation to be on the good side

That's how it seems. Definitely, we need to pray about that. Thank you.

If we are to talk about the bad things, a whole lot of things will come rushing to the mind at once, the good news seems to be farfetched.

The issue of insecurity itself is enough to wipe away any good, cause like you said, who will enjoy whatever infrastructure they put in place when the people are no more.

Thanks for sharing.

That's the case. The bad far outweighs the good.

Insecurity has been and still remains a major issue. It's a necessary question there to ask.

Thank you for stopping by.
