A Solo Trip Across the Country: Worth It?

What easily came to my mind, without much hesitation after reading the prompt was the answer “No.” Normally, I won't make seemingly quick decisions like this. Somehow, I could conveniently say “No” on this. I understand the gain from such an experience, considering I'm someone who appreciates adventures and exploring places. I mean, I would be touring my country; North, South, East and West. That would be a memorable adventure. However, at what cost? That's where my “No” is coming from.

Trust me when I say, visiting and exploring places; new places is something I appreciate. Though the means to do all of that seem limited, it's something I would like to embark on. But then, as I've said in different posts; there's a limit to going on such adventures, including one like this presented in the prompt. I'll say more interesting even because I would get to make this trip on a solo level. Maybe that. The trip should expose me to different lives, cultures, people, and so on. Beyond all the beautiful experiences that could come from that, I have to apply critical consideration to things.

Why am I talking this way? One major reason I say “No” is due to the current state of things in my country. For many years now, we've been plagued, incessantly with horrific security concerns. People dread travelling around some regions or to some places. What's the reason? There are gross terrorist activities in such places. We've read and seen in the news how innocent citizens plying some major to minor roads were abducted, and ransom demanded from their families. Talk of the trauma they go through in that captivity.

Sadly, some don't come out alive. Not to sound fearful or so. It's about avoiding what could be avoided. It's unfortunate to say, but my country isn't one to really fancy a solo, tour kind of trip, now at least. Except for an urgent and necessary need, or if you have some means of adequate security, it doesn't look advisable. And for me, I'd rather spend that money on something worth it; that's if I were given the money, as opposed to going on this wonderful but yet concerning trip. I'd rather avoid unnecessary concerns and focus on other things.

Looking at our poor road networks, I find more reason to say “No.” With the bad nature of the majority of roads, a car trip around the country doesn't seem favourable. For we're certainly rich in life, culture, nature, and more-things worth exploring. But such is encouraged through good accessibility From my little journey within the country, the road networks I've experienced are mostly terrible. Well, it's good to see the government are making efforts on this matter as I can attest to in recent times. But with the current roads we have, it would be a sour trip.

Something I'd like to do is embark on such a trip. It would be an enriching one. Exploring other places; the culture and people, is something I would say yes to on many occasions or opportunities. But due considerations to things remains a necessary approach in life for me. Perhaps, I would take such a chance in the future, when things must have gotten better. In that case, absolutely “Yes.” Otherwise, with my few points above, you should understand why I would say “No” to this wonderful trip.

With the present condition of the country touring will be difficult.

One of the things to learn is to learn about people's culture and way of life.
