When it comes to watching movies, I'm very picky about it. I won't say it happened when I was all mature but this started around my puberty age and when I tell people about it they tend to judge me and say all sorts of words like ( if they put you there, can you act one?). Someone once told me that it is pride that would make me think Nollywood movie doesn't make sense and even a friend told me I don't have a taste for good movie because I don't do Kdrama but for me, I love to watch something I can relate with and not just 100% sci-fi we see today.
I have watched a lot of real-life stories but there is this particular one that means a lot to me because it positively affected me, if I want to be honest I have watched this particular movie more than 10 times but trust me I'm not an addict to that movie exactly.
It's a story about a family with one son, he was some months old when his adopted parent went on some Christian mission in another country and every time his birthday comes up it ruins the boy's mood but his adopted always finds a way to help is mood get better, but when he was about to turn a certain age, he started shutting his mom and dad out, and he only wants to hang out with his friends. His mom was trying to do what she does as a mom but all effort didn't work out.
When they found him he had no pulse but the doctors on ground performed CPR while they took the hospital after trying their best they gave up on him but his mom didn't and she prayed instead of saying farewell to her son and a tiny pulse was found. They flew him to another hospital with better equipment and doctors. They started treatment but there was no improvement, there was this time they talked about basketball while he was in a deep coma and reacted but it wasn't enough.
His mom fought everyone at the hospital because they were being realistic about the boy's condition, saying there shouldn't be negativity around him. After some time, her high blood pressure kicked in and she passed out. She was demanded by the doctor to take a 6-hour nap for her health which was when she sat and thought deeply and prayed to God, she asked for forgiveness because she had wronged God by being harsh to people who didn't hurt the boy realising she had been selfish.
When she went back inside the hospital the doctor in charge of John approached them and told them that the medication they were giving could affect his life even if he was back to life, at some point it was confusing to them because this medication was supposed to help him now it might harm so the mom said they should stop all treatment and let him fight for his life. While he was in the hospital his story was already broadcast across almost the country and the parents used that opportunity to ask everyone to please pray for him.
His schoolmates and town people turned up outside the hospital, his basketball team and many people from different states prayed for him. I prayed too when I was watching the movie because it felt like it was just happening. They took him off every treatment and he came back to life not instantly but he did and to the glory of God, he had no complications, and every part of his body system functioned well.
Even the doctor was short of words to use after he was trying to explain what happened and all he said eas its a miracle
This movie is called breakthrough, it reminds me that miracles happen and mine will. It reminds me mostly when I feel questioning why I'm alone and even God isn't here, it reminds me that if I pray he will listen and no matter how down my mood might this is one of the few movies that can brighten my mood.
