There is nothing bad with surrogacy

The first time I came across this word was in a movie; I didn’t really understand what it meant, not until I came of age. Surrogacy is an arrangement between a couple whereby a woman accepts to carry a baby on behalf of the couple. Surrogacy becomes an option when a couple can’t bear a child the normal way or traditional method. From the movie, I find out that medical conditions can also be a reason why couples can’t bear a child; for example, cancer and kidney problems are major reasons why the couple goes for surrogacy.

Surrogacy is always an emotional process; in some cases, if proper discussion or arrangement is not made, the carrier always finds it hard to give the baby to the parent. That is why I said it is emotional. There is this joy mothers have when they have one. The birth journey for 9 months is not always easy. That is why before you go for surrogacy, there should be legal arrangements and documentation.

Infertility is a cause why women go for surrogacy. In a movie I see, the doctor told the couple that they can’t bear a child due to the wife having premature ovarian failure. The doctor advises them to go for surrogacy; the other woman will be the carrier, and once the baby is born, the couple will carry their child. There is always a legal arrangement.

There are so many women who can’t withstand child pain; they will look for someone who will carry the baby. Most people go for surrogacy because they don’t want to add the want to remain forever young.

For me, I prefer surrogacy to adopting a child. A child that is born through surrogacy shares the same blood and genes with the parent. With surrogacy, will the parent have the privilege to experience parenthood and what it feels like?

Any couple that goes for surrogacy – I respect them because it is not easy for them. They have had to pass a lot from family members and friends. I know of a woman who lived in my area for twenty years; in marriage, she had no child. People were calling her names because of her childlessness. Then she went to the hospital, and the doctor suggested surrogacy for them, which they did. Today the woman’s joy is complete; the joy of every parent is a child.

Parenthood comes with a lot of challenges. There is this joy a child brings to a family; any family without a child is not complete. Before a surrogacy is done, it is very necessary that the surrogacy mom and the intended parent go into an argument and proper documentation.
