High cost of living
Good day, amazing people of Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompts, the cost of living.
It is no longer news that the cost of living is really high; people are smiling and suffering these days. Gone are those days when one could comfortably get what they want; people are really suffering; everyone is trying to survive in this economy.
In my area the cost of living is not easy; on a daily basis things keep going up, from accommodation to feeding and transport. I can’t remember the last time I ate three square meals. The country is becoming harder day by day, and the means of surviving are becoming hard for the citizens.
I can’t remember how we got to this. I can remember going to market with 20,000 naira, and it would stock up the house, but now 20,000 naira will not be enough to stock up the house. The most surprising thing is a commodity you purchase at the rate of 2 naira. Going back to the market the next week, you will realise that the commodity you bought at 2 naira has doubled to 2. The poor masses are really suffering; most of them can no longer afford to feed themselves, and they are on the road begging. If the cost of living is shaking an average man, how much more the poor masses?
A Corper member complained about how hard it is for her to survive, that everything is expensive – feeding, transport and so on. The funniest thing is these people don’t even care about the people they are leading; as far as they are concerned, if everything is okay, it is not their business.
On several occasions I keep asking myself, How did we get to this point of no return? I understand that things go up, but since our new president, everything has skyrocketed. Day by day people are frustrated and depressed. Last week my mom came back from the market talking to herself. I asked her what the problem was. Mom said the cost of living is becoming so high that, can you imagine, she went to the market with 60,000 but was unable to stock up the house? It is really painful that the citizens will be laminating about the high cost of living and the government will keep mute.
Most things one does in the morning make me so angry because there is no day I don’t spend 3,000 on feeding and transport. It’s really bad that despite the high cost of living, salaries still remain the same. Most times at the end of the month, I will be left with nothing.
If the relocation is within Nigeria, I will remain where I am. There is no difference because the cost of living is almost the same in my country, so there is no need for relocation.
What will make life easier for me?
Easily this year, Mom has told us all that we will all be farming. Farming will make it easier for us because you will produce food that will be enough for my family. After all, our forefathers were great farmers.
Because of the high cost of living, I wake up very early and join my neighbours who run a commercial transport to reduce costs for me.
We need help; people are dying day by day due to hardship. The cost of living is really high; the government should hear the cry of the poor citizens.
