When we compare the kind of lifestyle our fore fathers lived and the kind of life we are living today, we can agree that the vast change which has taken place is pretty evident. From the many stories and all what we have learnt from history, documentaries and from our elders, it's very obvious that we have come a really long way and that a lot of things are no longer the way they used to be.
Now there's a common argument which relates to the question which is: "Who has it better? Our fore fathers or us who are currently living in the present world?"
A good number of people, would choose to say our fore fathers lived a happier life, probably as a result of some of the disheartening happenings in our world today, ranging from inflation to bad governance and a whole lot of other things. But of course, we can't totally say that they didn't get to experience those things.
Our fore fathers just might have lived much better when we consider some aspects like bills, the work stress, corruption, pollution and all the likes we have in the present world. During their time, the world was much less complex. The focused more on important things like their basic needs, their families and they lived happily.
However, I truly believe that the world is in a much better state than it was in the days of our fore fathers.
The major difference between then and now is the technological advancement.
Ever since the adaptation of technology, the world has experienced great evolution, life has become much less difficult and standard of living has been greatly enhanced.
Take a good look at the health sector today, it has so much improved compared to the way it was then. In the days of our fore fathers, a lot of people died in the process of trying to cure their illnesses. The health facilities were so inadequate and there wasn't enough knowledge in the medical field.
Then, the little illnesses that we are familiar with today were so deadly because the traditional remedies were not effective. This reminds me of a story my mom told me about her aunt. At a very young age she suffered from poliomyelitis, an illnesses is no longer dreaded in our present time but back then, it seemed deadly. There were no vaccines and the health practitioners were not able to administer the right treatment. This ended up crippling her for the rest of her life, very sad!
If there was technological development then, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have been the case.
Communication has improved very much too. In those days, our fore fathers would have to go through so much stress to send and receive messages to and from different locations using traditional methods. Because of this, communicating with loved ones from long distances was very stressful and costly. Getting news and information about the happenings all around the world was also very difficult. This caused them to be very ignorant about so many things and impaired a lot of development. But now in our present time, we don't even have to go through any stress to share and receive information, communicate with loved ones and stay updated.
Now just imagine how transportation was in those days. When there were no cars, trains, planes and the likes, traveling was done through traditional methods such as through using animals and also on foot. Back then, traveling would take ages and was so unenjoyable unlike now when it has even become luxurious. People are now able to travel to any part of the world with ease in just a matter of hours all thanks to the advent of technology.
These are just some of the few ways through which the advancement of technology has greatly improved our lives, although there's so much more. From this, it's obvious that we are much more opportune than our fore fathers were during their time, having that we have enjoyed and are still enjoying numerous benefits from technology.
This post is my response to the @hive-learners weekly posting topics for week 36 edition 02 on the title "Us Or Our Fore Fathers".
One of the greatest benefits of civilization and advancement is technology, which wasn't available in the old days.
Very true! Technology has benefited our generation in so many ways.

No doubt our forefathers did live a happy and a healthy life but we still thank God for where we are today.
Yeah we should be very grateful for how far we have come.
Thanks for visiting!❤️
Am thankful for technology, I can't even imagine a world without technology. We have it easier than our forefathers.
I also can't imagine how our fore fathers were able to cope without technology. We sure do have it easier than them.
Thanks for visiting!❤️
It is true that, contrary to the pessimistic view held by many people that "the end of the world is near", this is actually a golden age for human civilization. It has prospered greatly and the world is better off now than it was before the 20th century. Steven Pinker's work demonstrates this. Of course, hat does not mean it will stay that way. Human-induced climate change will probably lead us into another bad era again.
