I can remember that the first social media platform I joined was 2go in 2012, but it wasn’t the first social media platform to exist.

Platforms like Facebook and Eskimi were already around before it, but the difference was that 2go was very easy to access and register on back then. All you needed was a username and password to create an account, unlike Facebook, which required an email address. At that time, not everyone knew how to create or use an email account.
During my days on 2go, there were no memes or GIFs, and guess what? Chatting was still a lot of fun. We had group chats, private messages, and trivia games, which made the app a go-to platform for many people.
In fact, it was on 2go that I made some friends who are still very close to me today. Some of them even introduced me to opportunities that changed my life. Chatting was fun without memes and GIFs.
So, would anything really change if memes and GIFs were banned?
Personally, I am not really a fan of memes, but that doesn’t mean I don’t use them at all. I do post memes on my WhatsApp status, especially the ones I can relate to or simply find funny.
Rather than using GIFs, I prefer stickers on WhatsApp. I use them with friends and family, and sometimes they help me end certain conversations with strangers. There are different stickers for different people and situations.
When it comes to GIFs, the social app where I use them once in a while is Discord. However, I rarely use them because Discord isn’t just a social media app for me; it is connected to my business and work. I have bosses, allies, and associates there, so I am usually focused on work-related activities and don’t chat unnecessarily.

That said, there was a time when I was active in group chats, and I used GIFs to make conversations more fun and engaging. They definitely have their place.
I won’t disagree with the fact that memes and GIFs make conversations more interesting for many people. Sometimes, when you’re speechless, a GIF can express exactly how you feel.
Memes are also a creative way of expressing emotions, opinions, and thoughts in a funny or unusual manner. Some memes are so layered that you need a good understanding of internet culture to fully understand them.
To cut the write-up short, memes and GIFs make chats more interesting, but chats will still be interesting without them.
In my own case, they won’t be missed much because I am not a heavy user of either. And I believe most people would eventually adapt if they disappeared. After all, people enjoyed social media long before memes and GIFs became a major part of online conversations.
What about you? Would you miss memes and GIFs if they were gone tomorrow?

Without memes and gifs life o social media will still continue. Thanks for sharing.
Yes!
I think that more of me without memes and GIFs, my life will go smoothly, as I don't use those usually.
Exactly
I love this, and I also agree that ythese things can help express opinions, thoughts, and expressions better.
I use memes and gif so much, but I believe life will go on and we will adapt if they go extinct.
Thanks for sharing.
❣️❣️❣️
There are so many things that we love using that no longer exist yet we didn't miss them
Huhm, true though.
You made me remember the good old days of 2go chaiii 😂🤣
And just like you said, they all have their place, and if they were to be banned according to your title, I am very sure that we humans can easily adapt to the new trends and move on with our lives because I know the type of people we have now, they will quickly find another thing to replace memes and GIFs
Omo chat was very interesting back then to me o, cos it was real vibes not now that we are more interested in making money lol
Bro,it was interesting that time because our eyes hasn't opened and we were not thinking about money...but now that we are adults too, it's all about money sometimes
It's well
