The Dreams That Drive Me Every Day

Bucket lists are the goals we hope to achieve in our lifetime. People’s minds are different, which is why everyone’s bucket list is different.

When we look back at our past, we often realize that we have already achieved some of the things that used to be our prayer points. And once those are achieved, we set new goals for ourselves.

At this stage of my life, my dreams are not luxury-focused. They are built around stability, family, and impact.

Regarding stability, my bucket list is to build a successful business that gives me financial freedom.

There is nothing as satisfying as being your own boss and earning enough to cater for your family, live comfortably, afford the things you want and need, and still have something left to save.

Some people often say money doesn’t bring happiness. But one thing that is common among many of those people is that they are already rich, so they already have access to most things money can buy. That can easily change their perspective on money. You will rarely hear a poor man say money doesn’t bring happiness.

Money may not buy happiness directly, but it can buy things that make life easier and more comfortable. In the world we live in today, love alone is not always enough. You also need the ability to provide and take care of the people you love. And many times, that ability comes from financial stability. So yes, a good business that stabilizes my cash flow is the first bucket list item I want to crush.

The second item on my bucket list is family, and one big part of that is giving my child the best life possible.

Family is everything. In many ways, we live for them. They are also the reason behind the first bucket list. If it were just about me, I might not push myself this hard. Family is my source of motivation, and I will always do my best to make them happy.

Watching Ryan grow from a baby to adulthood, and eventually reach the stage where he can stand on his own feet without my support, is a dream I hold dearly. I hope that he reaches places and heights his father could not. And I will do my best to guide him there with the little knowledge and connections I have.

The third thing on my bucket list is moving into my own house.

The way rent keeps increasing in many places is alarming. I remember that was one of the reasons I had to leave Yaba. When the cost of renting a mini flat rose to above ₦3 million, it became unrealistic for me. I had to change my environment and move somewhere more affordable, where a mini flat costs about ₦1.1 million total package, with about ₦700k yearly rent and some small additional bills.

Even with that, it still feels expensive sometimes, especially with how unpredictable things can be financially. Because of that, owning my own house, where I don’t have to worry about rent or the next increase, has become a major priority for me.

And I truly hope that, with time, consistency, and God’s grace, I will achieve all of these.

Money can't buy happiness but money can clear the path of you on the way to happiness. So, it's important.
