90 percent of people are not happy with their 9 to 5 job. I said 90% because there are some 9 to 5 jobs that are actually worth it.
People working in oil and gas companies, and I don’t mean fuel attendants, I mean those earning seven-figure salaries, can hardly say they are tired of their jobs because such jobs also help them build their own lives while they support the vision of the company owner.
This is the dream job of many, but unfortunately, only a few people are lucky enough to get such jobs, while others struggle in 9–5 jobs that are not even enough to feed them, let alone pay other bills.
If you ask most people to choose between a 9 to 5 job and owning their own business, most would choose the latter because nothing beats being your own boss and knowing you are working hard to build your own empire. Your sweat and struggle are for your own growth.
Unfortunately, money is a barrier for many people. Some people’s brains are filled with many business ideas, but they have no money to start.
Yes, business also has its own disadvantages. Not everyone who starts a business will succeed. There are customer problems, competition from others selling the same product, and many other issues that may arise. But amidst all these, there are still people who have become very successful through their businesses.
Being an overthinker and a strategist, if I had an investor ready to invest in me, the first thing I would think about is a business that not many people are into, because I wouldn’t want the investor to regret investing in me, and I would also want the business to be profitable.
Secondly, I would weigh the risk of the business. I wouldn’t engage in a business where the risk of losing money is higher than the chance of gaining.
Right now, the business I feel would be worth an investor’s time and money is the petroleum business, but this will require a lot of capital.
We will need to buy land, build on it, do the flooring and other necessities, which will cost millions, construct petroleum tanks, buy fuel dispensers, and also have money to buy the petrol we are going to sell.
My role in this would be to be the manager who manages the inflow and outflow of cash and sales. This business is very profitable in my country, but less than 5 percent of the citizens have the money to set it up.
I believe my strong will for success would make me successful. We don’t relent here; we give it our best to make sure everything goes well.
This is just one of those business ideas that I would present to an investor who has a lot of money to invest in me.

Only 1% of 9 to 5 in Nigeria is actually worth it. The rest of them are really rubbish if you ask me
I agree!
I had to smile just a little bit.
You mention doing something that not many are doing and then choose Petroleum which...everyone seems to be doing :) ... not that I disagree with the idea of owning a fuel station but I wasn't expecting it.
As for the desire to find something that has higher chance of making money than failing? I'd restate that just slightly. There is nothing wrong with higher risk provided the potential profit is that much higher. If you spend $1000 with a chance at a million? If there is even a reasonable chance it will work its worthwhile.
Hmmm I guess that is why we are humans, we are different and not everyone loves taking risk... some people prefer risking their life savings for a 1 percent chance of hitting it big but for me, I can't do that even if it is 70 percent chance unless I have no other option...
Now regarding the fuel station and the numbers of people into it, you know we can't really compare the numbers of people who owns a fuel station to those selling groceries, it is like 1 of 2000... so that is what I mean by business that many people are not into...
There is really no business that people are not doing, we just have to look for one that many people can't afford or venture into...
You are right, only few are enjoying their jobs , many others are just managing to maintain lives and families..
Sadly
