Since the current president of Nigeria ascended the throne, things have gone from bad to worse... Cars that sold for 4 million in 2021 now sell for 13 million Naira... This is the least of the problems because it is only people who have eaten to their satisfaction that would think of buying cars.
A man without any dream who just wants to survive won't have it easy too because even that lifestyle is now very expensive because the basic needs of humans are costly... Food, rent, and other bills attached to the house are suffocating people now.
I have mentioned how I was paying 500 Thousand Naira for a very small apartment in the Shomolu part of Lagos and I had no choice but to stay there because of schooling not until this year that the landlord increased the rent by 40% taking the rent to 700 000 Naira including service charges... I did not enjoy my stay in the house due to some factors.
These factors made the space so uncomfortable for me, I had to place my Router outside whenever I wanted to work, if there was no electricity, there would be darkness and I would be forced to either go outside or put on the rechargeable fan...
Increasing the rent of such an apartment is absurd, moreover, I found the rent of that area too expensive that I have decided to move back to my former area where I am planning to secure a 3 bedroom flat for 600k, Imagine paying 600k for 3 bed and paying 700k for 1 room self, just see the difference.
A lot of people are already moving to areas where rent is cheaper and I will be doing the same, the plot twist is that in the area I am moving to, some other people also find the rent expensive, so they are also leaving and moving to cheaper areas, this way civilization and development will happen in those rural areas too cos people are flooding there due to the high cost of living in the city.
Many people are in pain since the government enforced the use of prepaid meters and also forcefully put some of us in Band A, from 2000 naira weekly, the amount I pay for electricity flies to 6k weekly! which sums the total to 24k monthly... Luckily the landlord brought more prepaid last year in December and two tenants were to share one prepaid meter which reduced the cost to 5k for two weeks but we need to manage it to make this possible or else it only lasts ten days.
The least I spend in a day now is 5000 Naira and this is after having some foodstuffs at home, 2500 Naira meat is now very small, fish is not cheap either, as at 2 years ago when I moved into the area, I bought crates of eggs for 1900 naira but now it has increased to 5900!
It is no longer about eating to satisfaction but eating to survive.

Smile 😁😁, i have long stop thinking about cars, it's a no go area, even car spare parts i can't afford 😁
lol yea one thing is buying a car another thing is being able to maintain it.
That is why I do not think about it, to maintain car these days, is nothing to smile about 😁😁
I think more people moving out of the city is a good thing. Sometimes, I view living in the city as investing in an asset that's overvalued in fundamental terms. Maybe if there are very few people to pay for these expensive rents, the landlords will adapt and reduce their prices to stay in business.
Someone mentioned this that they keep increasing it because people are renting it, unfortunately people will continue to rent at their ridiculous price ....

Cost of living choke now oh
Make God helps us
Omo it is more expensive in your area o . We will survive the hardship .
Come to think of it, this man keeps implementing some policies that's favouring the masses and yet Naira keeps losing it value... shame
favor masses? nothing he is doing is in our favor
Policies that is not**
That was what I wanted to say
Tinubu has made this very possible. They said they'll reduce our purchase power and the people who campaigned for him thought it was a joke.
Meat 3k self is not enough to cook soup
at all, thank God i dont love meat, my own is to eat lol
he said, the biggest costs were spent on rent and transportation
Ever since the era of this current president, the cost of goods has gone high. I had to manage what I have, no more wastage.
it is same everywhere, most ppl have turn to a minimalist
The crazy part? Even moving back to villages is not helping one bit. I can tell you this because I have the experience of both rural and urban living in this era.
damn, i think you are right cos rent may be cheap in rural but food will be costly
Your post title cracked me up fr 😂, but that's just the honest truth. Even the living can't afford to live again, it's too sad, people work just to be able to feed and nothing more.
