I have heard about cases where people lost their properties to floods. There were numerous videos on the TikTok app of people whose apartments got flooded, resulting in their beds, chairs, wardrobes, and other household items being affected.
This has never happened to me, but I can feel the pain of the victims. Imagine buying those things with hard-earned money, and water ends up damaging them... This often happens to people living in a downstairs apartment or bungalow, and this is another reason why I prefer living upstairs, because the flood can't disturb them due to the height.
I love the rainy season, it is the period that I feel energised to go out, the atmosphere is cooler, and I see fewer people on the road, I don't feel good in a crowd and during rainy season, most people are either in their house or under a roof[could be shop or anywhere], that is when you will see me with my umbrella, not that I have anywhere important to go, I just love to stroll out at that particular time, it is fun for me.
The climate change I experienced happened last year when I visited my sister around the tollgate area, the weather was ok when I got there, few hours later it started raining and it poured heavily for more than an hour before it began drizzling, It was close to the time I needed to depart and go home, I waited a bit hoping it would stop but it didn't and it was getting late, I had to enter the rain like that to get a bike or keke napep that will take me to the bus stop where I will board another vehicle home.
I was shocked to see the road leading to the bus stop flooded, most drivers could not pass there for fear of it causing damages to their vehicles, so passengers had to get down and enter the flood if they really want to get to the bus stop, I also had no choice because I do not have the plan of passing the night in my sister house, so I entered the water too and it almost got to my knee, I made it to the bus stop where I board the bus that will convey me home...
Unfortunately, this is the same area I rented an apartment now due to the high cost of rent in my former area but the good part is I rarely go out so I do not have any business that will take me to the flooded areas, the estate I live in, even though the road is not tiled, it has a good drainage system so it doesn't get flooded during the rainy season.

I like winter season but I love to see rain if I don't need to go outside.
I have encountered similar situation but my experience was worse that you because half of my body almost gone underwater. Fortunately now drainage system improved a lot this year and I hope I won't face such a situation again.
It turns out that everyone in various countries is experiencing climate change problems.
I also mostly observe the damage when a flood happens without experiencing in directly. Some areas with a poor drainage system can flood easily even with less rain, if it's not really important, I try to wait a few days before going around those areas for whatever business I have going over there.
Drainage systems are a huge problem in our part of the world. Most cities in Ghana also get flooded because poor drainage system coupled with too much refuse in our gutters would obviously lead to flooding when it rains heavily.
