At this point, phones should be among the basic things of life that humans need to survive. It is the first thing most of us touch in the morning when we wake up and the last thing we touch before sleeping... The addiction is real.
I can't imagine a life without a phone because I spend most of my time on it...
It is my tool to earn a living.
It is my source of entertainment.
It connects me with family and friends.
The phone weilds power that makes us superhuman, we already know this, and hence why it is banned in certain places because they know what it is capable of doing.
Imagine student being able to bring phones to exam hall, no student will fail because all the answers can be gotten on the phone, oh yea you might want to say internet should get that credit, but what is internet without a phone to access it, what is the use of chat gpt without a phone to access it, the phone is the home that house all the apps and web and without phone, they are all useless.
The last time I ever had a problem with a bad phone was 2018, I was using this phone which hangs all the time because the storage was full and the phone was already getting old too, it got worse when I had to use it to post on hive, most time I would spend 6 to 7 hours to write a post which should take me less than an hour on a norm.
At some point, the phone started to frustrate my life, while writing, the button will click itself and all the write up will wipe off, and i will have to start all over again, it got to a point that I could not cope with it again, I had to borrow money from a friend, added it to the one I saved up and use it to purchase a new phone.
Since then, I have always kept an emergency fund in case my phone got spoiled or stolen because it is a tool I can't do without.
I was already addicted to the phone before it became a tool for earning a livelihood. I was a chat freak, during the 2go days, I literally chatted from morning till midnight of the next day nonstop and I slept only when nature forced me. Once I am awake, I continued with the chat.... That was when the phone was not giving me money; it was purely for entertainment purposes, yet I was addicted and couldn't stay long without it.
Nowadays, I am a workaholic; our interests change as we become adults... We lost interest in fun and focused on working hard to be able to pay our bills and fulfill our responsibilities. I am still addicted to the same phone, just for a different reason.
I can stay a few hours without my phone as long as I have gotten my work done for the day. I find chatting and connecting with others tiring nowadays, so the only thing that would make me miss my phone is work, and I work all the time; the only time I am not working is when I am sleeping.
Anything above 5 hours without my phone is a disaster!

During the festive season I do go for days without using my phone. I find posting hard during that time so I just focus on my work without using phone.
Let’s just say online activities like hive make me use my phone daily.

I forgot about phones for various reason and I stay far from it many times but I can't deny the importance of phone. It's necessary and I won't choose to stay far even I am capable of doing so.

nice! No doubt there is either one or two things we need it for...
I don't even chat much nowadays, but I discovered something: people who were addicted to their phones back in the day as we the ones eho actually became online geeks, for example the Guy who onboarded me to Hive was like that, and today he's a web developer..
yes, most also secured gigs online... our passion will lead us to greatness...
So much said in three simple points. I can’t even deal. Life without my phone now is life paused.
that is how important it is to us.
