It is okay to leave than to resort to an argument

I love to banter with my friends or people who are a bit close to me, but it only ends there. You can't see me arguing with a stranger or someone I barely know because banter can easily lead to an argument... Once the banter turns into a heated argument, I try to stop it, and if it is beyond my power to stop, I leave!

During heated arguments, people tend to say things out of anger, and whatever anyone tells you when they are angry is what has been on their mind. The anger only motivates them to spit it out, so always take a record of the words they say during a heated conversation. Word is like a broken egg; it can't be fixed once it comes out of the mouth, and hence we should learn to avoid anything that will put us in such a condition with others.

I play a lot and I love to argue with my friends, and I don't mean an argument that leads to a fight, just a normal argument, I find it fun. Still, any argument that will lead to the other being aggressive, I avoid it cos I do not like drama or anything that will take away my peace of mind.

I once got involved with the principal of the school where I used to teach, so in that school, they mandated a dress code, which was not discussed with me or others before they employed us. Not informing ahead was not the main problem; it is the fact that you are paying me a small amount of money, and you want me to buy a complete dress code for the week, which would cost me 2 months' Salary.*

The most annoying part is that the school is divided into secondary and primary school, and both have separate buildings but we conduct the morning assembly together, so the principal would always compare us to the secondary school teachers putting on the dress code, to the extent that she reported us to the propreitress who I expected to fight for us but she said nothing.

Before you judge us in the primary school sector for not obeying the rules, the secondary school is collecting 4x our salary, so they have no reason not to follow the dress code, moreover I see no reason why the principal for the secondary school should keep talking down on us in the primary sector but not for once did I argue with her even though I have a lot to say.

One day, I got to school absent the dress code as usual, I stopped going out for assembly because of her, so on that day she came to meet me in my classroom and asked me why I was not putting on the dress code, I told her I don't have it yet and the next thing she told me to go home and change, instead of arguing with her, I went to the proprietress office to report to her what just happened and her reply was I should obey the principal... I was disappointed with her response, and I made up my mind that very moment. I went to the class, carried my bag, and left the school premises...

Two days later, I got a call, and it was from her asking me why I didn't come back. I told her I resigned and would not be teaching in her school again. She cut the call, and that was it... There is no point in working in such an environment... As the proprietress you know how much you are paying us and you are our employer that needs to address us but instead you put someone who knows nothing about our payment or what is going on in our sector to keep disrespecting us, I didn't sign up for that and most importantly I left without any heated argument.

Do you also know that there are people who don’t know how to start up or engage in arguments?
They want to turn everything to fight which isn’t supposed to be like that

yea right, once we notice this in them, the best thing is to avoid them.

I worked in a secondary school as well. This dress code stuff was always an issue. Fun thing is, this people can actually find a way to buy the clothes for the workers while looking for a convenient way to make it work. But, private school owners are some of the greediest people ever. Thank God we left that life behind

very greedy, it was not a good life at all, I love tEaching but it is a job that will keep one stagnant forever.. esp all these private school.

I loved teaching too, but passion doesn't pay the bills especially in Nigeria

I'm not sure why people can see something that's not right and simply not point it out, especially when they're in the main leadership position. I probably would've done the same if I were in your shoes. This principal doesn't seem sensible lol.

The proprietress is the culprit; she could tell the principal not to bother her teachers due to our low payment, but she remain silent, which means she could even be the one instigating the principal to do what she did

Right right. She could definitely be the one behind what the principal was doing lol.

Leaving without an argument was the best option cuz, from what I can tell, the principal is blinded by her authority and proprietress doesn't even know how to run a school

it is an argument I can't win, boss would always remain the boss, so it was better to quit
