If there were an option to earn money without working, many people would choose it, because the main reason we work is to make money, to pay bills, and take care of ourselves and our families.

Retirement and pension are what bring that kind of life we all yearn for: earning without the need to work. It gives us the freedom and time to do what we truly love, spending more time with family, exploring new places, or simply staying home and enjoying the little things that make us happy.
Unfortunately, not all companies pay pensions, which is why working for some private companies can feel like a waste of time. Many of them may let you go once you are old and can no longer serve their interests.
Government jobs, on the other hand, usually offer pensions to their workers. My dad received several million Naira when he retired from government service, and he now receives a fixed amount every month for the rest of his life. Now, he can simply rest, eat well, and enjoy his days without constantly worrying about where the next money will come from.
I am not working for the government, and I am not working for a company that offers a pension. But let us assume I was privileged to work under the government and had the opportunity to receive a pension.
I could never be bored around my family. I would gladly spend my days with them, enjoying the moments that truly matter.
The essentials of life are food, shelter, clothing, and good health. If a pension can provide these for me, then everything else is secondary.
Many of us don’t know what the future holds. Will we secure a government job that pays us for life and makes old age less of a burden? I wouldn’t want to rely on that alone.
We can also focus on building something that generates passive income for us, so that when we retire, it continues to pay us. That way, we won’t have to worry about the days when we are old and no longer have the strength to work.

That will be our pension. And the truth is, when we reach retirement age, there is nothing more important than simply enjoying life with our family.
Our youthful years are meant to be used to gather funds, resources, and everything we need to make our old age a happy and comfortable one.
It breaks my heart when I see elderly people on the streets struggling to find something to eat, when they should be at home, resting and surrounded by family.
Some people judge them and ask what they were doing in their youthful years. But the truth about life is that not everyone will make it. It doesn’t mean they were lazy. Life is different for everyone, and those who had it easier may assume others didn’t try, but that isn’t always the case.

I agree with you. Life can change at any point and turn people into things they don't understand.
