Even in Hard Times, There is Joy
No matter what we are going through in life, whether good or bad, someone somewhere has it better, and someone else has it worse.
While you may be thinking about the luxurious things you can’t afford, some people are struggling to eat twice a day. While you are worried about the job you lost, some people have nothing to rely on for the next day.
Sometimes, when you hear the problems others are facing, you begin to see your own struggles differently. Some battles people fight are so heavy that they make their own problems seem smaller.
2025 is still my worst year because it was the year I lost my mum. No one can ever replace her. People may try, but they can never love me the way she did. A mother’s love is unconditional. Mothers are like our small gods on earth, always willing to sacrifice everything for us. Whether we are right or wrong, our safety and happiness remain their priority.
As I grieve my mother’s departure from this earth, I also welcome my first child. In a strange way, that eased some of my pain. It feels special to have a bone of my bone and a flesh of my flesh, someone who looks like me.
Whenever I look at him, I feel happy. Watching him grow each day and noticing the little changes in him is truly beautiful and interesting.
Another thing that brings me joy is my wife. I am a lucky man to be blessed with an understanding and supportive woman.
The rise or downfall of a man can sometimes be influenced by the woman beside him. A man who marries the wrong partner may begin to go down instead of up. A man who marries someone who is never content and only focused on material things will face many problems, and a man who marries an unappreciative wife may struggle to find happiness.
This is why I am grateful, because my wife has none of those qualities.
She takes care of our home, supports my goals, and we work together to become better versions of ourselves. Together, we are building a home and working toward a brighter future for our children.
This is something truly worth being happy about. A successful, happy home is the result of two people who love each other and genuinely want the best for one another.
Being happy and joyful doesn’t mean life is without problems. It simply means being grateful for the good things while trusting God to help solve the ones that trouble us.
Life cannot always be rosy, but the struggles and the hustle are part of what make the journey meaningful and interesting.
