Environment influences, But the mind decides

There is no formula for raising a child; some people care so much for their children who end up being a terror to society, while we have seen children from poor homes having the best attitude and personalities in life, and vice versa.

No doubt that some factors contribute to whether a child can become good or bad, the environment is one of those factors, we have often seen children born in the ghetto joining bad gangs or falling for peer pressure and end up smoking and engaging in other vices, their environment contributed to this because if they were to be born in an area where they were not exposed to such lifestyle, they might never indulge in it.

Another factor is family; children learn a lot from their parents. If the mother is always fighting with their neighbors, the children might start supporting her during the fight and end up becoming like their mother too. If the father is always smoking, the children might take the habit from him.

Single parenting is another factor. I heard a story where a couple divorced, and the mother left the father with 2 children, a boy and a girl. As time goes on and they grow, the boy starts having intimacy with his sister without the father's knowledge, and they do it for years without anyone knowing. One day, the father also got drunk and had it with his daughter. She got pregnant which was when the world get to know about the terrible act going on in the family, it was at that time the father also knew the siblings have been doing bad things behind his back, all this is as a result of the mother missing in their life, at least she would have noticed.

I have often seen stories about how pastors' children are corrupt or engage in bad stuff, and people always lay emphasis on their parents' title, being a pastor's child doesn't automatically make the child immune to peer pressure and other factors... Just as some pastors' children turn out to be bad, others take after their parents and excel in society.

The factors have a role to play in all children's lives, but the mindset matters more.

We have seen children from slums become great in life. if they tell you where they live their childhood, you would find it hard to believe them, if a child want to be bad, he can easily achieve that cos it is easy to destroy one's life, building it is the hardest and we have kids who build their life through discipline and not falling for peer pressure.

In the end, the parent, environment, and people have their own role to play in the child's life, but the child's mindset will tell if he will become bad or good.
