There is no human without fear, we just know how to control it more than the others. Some people face their fears and get rid of them, while some do not have the courage to do what is needed to overcome their fears.

There are many times I have defied fear in my life, and I love the outcome, even though it took me years to overcome some of my fears.
The first one I will talk about was when I was still very young. I would see my peers riding bicycles, and I really wanted to learn how to ride a bicycle too, but the fear of falling kept me away. Whenever I had the opportunity to ride one, my friends would push me, but I just couldn’t seem to ride it alone because I feared I was going to fall.
This fear stayed with me for so many years. So one day, my in-law came home with a bicycle, and I said to myself, today is today. I must learn how to ride a bicycle.
So I rode the bicycle to and fro, but I could not ride it smoothly. Then I remembered one hint that I always got from others: if I wanted to ride it, I must not look down, or else it would put fear in me and make it seem like I was going to fall.
So I did just that. I looked forward, and that was it! I started riding the bicycle, and that was the day I overcame my fear.

The second time I overcame my fear was when I wanted to learn how to swim. I was scared of drowning, so I found it difficult to swim. I had many people teaching me, but still, it was the same.
Until one day, I went out with some of my friends. As usual, one of them was teaching me how to swim, but I didn’t get it. So somehow, I decided to learn from online resources. I Googled it and saw different techniques for beginners. The frog swimming technique seemed to be the easiest, so I tried it, and that was it!
From there onward, I started getting better, and before I knew it, I had learnt other styles. But I won’t say I have overcome all my fears involving swimming because I still haven’t learnt how to stay afloat.
I think this is because I stopped going to the swimming pool, so I haven’t had the time to learn new techniques.
One thing I realize after overcoming some fears in my life is that some of the things we fear are small things, and it is our fear of them that makes us see them as something big. It is when we overcome them that we realize how little they are and how they are not worth being scared of.
