The last physical book that I read was a year ago, and technically, I did not finish it, but I sure will someday. The book is titled The Talons of Time by Paul Twitchell.
The thing is, I am not much of a reader, probably because of how easily reading bores me. But you see this particular book, Talons of Time? I was so hooked that I had to borrow it. The book has a very descriptive narrative, such that one is drawn into the happenings in the story.
So, seeing how the owner of the book was on my neck to return the book after having it for a month, I decided to scan the pages to my phone just so that I can read it at my pace without any rush.
Well, I think that was a pretty smart move from my end because reading the story from my phone afterwards made the story more easily accessible than the physical book. Not that reading the physical book was boring, but then, I think that my phone gave it an easier accessibility.
The book Talons of Time is not your everyday science fiction, as it combines a perfect blend of adventure and spiritual themes. The book is a narrative of an experience that Paul had with the immaterial world, otherwise known as the spiritual realm. Paul Twitchell is the modern-day founder of ECKANKAR, and the story in this book forms part of his experience growing as a modern-day prophet.
The story follows a trail of suspense as Paul soon discovered the body of his friend John Skally. John was a scientist who has just been murdered by beings from another dimension sent by Kal Niranjan. Kal Niranjan is the entity popularly referred to as Satan.
While Paul tried to make sense of the crime scene and ascertain what might have happened to John, he soon came face-to-face with another entity known as the magician of Lo, who was a friend of John. Quite unfortunately, the magician arrived seconds after John had been murdered, and there wasn't much he could do to save him. But then all hope is not lost, as he informed Paul of the need to save John's soul, which has been held captive by Kal and his demons.
The whole experience became a lot to take in when Paul was informed that he just might have the location of John's diary, which contained the secret of time and space embedded in his subconscious.
The thing is, unbeknownst to Paul, John has been working undercover as the gatekeeper of the secret to time and space. A secret he had stolen when he infiltrated Kal's lair, and for the longest time, he had been hiding it well enough until he met Paul.
You see, John trusted Paul so much that he hid the location of his secret diary in Paul's subconscious just before Kal's demons caught up with him. And while John might be dead, his soul stood a greater risk of total annihilation, otherwise known as the final death.
Thus, it's up to Paul and the Magician to follow the trail of Kal's demon to save the soul of John before Kal is able to extract the location of John's diary from it and eventually annihilate it. Should they fail, that will be the end of time and motion.
Like I stated earlier, this book is very descriptive, engaging, and thought-provoking. But then as a pretty messed up reader, I still couldn't finish it, and I have been too occupied to get back to it. Hopefully I get to complete it someday and know how Kal was defeated plus where John hid his diary so that not even almighty Kal could locate it.
If you have an active imagine like myself and a fan of mysticism, this book is for you. In it are several secrets to time that could help you get along with your everyday life if you struggle with keeping to time like I did.
