Nepotism: When Talent Takes a Back Seat

No matter where you are, many times it happens that when someone you know reaches a particular position, then he wants that his acquaintances should be with him or he wants to send a friend who is his best friend that someone or the other should be with him. But in such a situation you see that discrimination is visible, it often happens in India that whenever any government job is released, then after some time when the exams are held, what do you see that the paper has been leaked and in such a situation, it becomes very difficult for those who work very hard because they have given a lot of their precious time. Whenever they give their time and work hard, and even after that, when they come to know that the paper has been leaked or they have to cancel the paper due to some work, then in such a situation also they get very disappointed and some students even take very wrong steps.
And this is not just about one paper, you get to see many such cases, I do not know about other countries, I live in India, so I can only talk about this. Look, I will not say that things were not like this earlier, it used to be like this earlier too, but now a lot more things have started happening because people wish to achieve anything on the basis of money, but for those who do not have money, things have become very difficult. Many people achieve a lot on the basis of their connections, but some people are very hardworking and they just keep on working hard. And seeing this, I feel very sad and also very sorry.
You see many people are very well qualified but still they do not get a chance because the people sitting in power at the top want something else and things also run according to their wishes. If a person wants to achieve something by working hard, but there are some people who reach there because of money, they are not even worthy of that, so in such a situation, the person who works hard feels a lot of pain and regrets, maybe why did he waste so much of his time and hard work here, many things also come to his mind. But see, many people are helpless due to which they are not able to do anything, except regretting, maybe they do not have anything else to do.
When a person who is not capable of a particular position reaches there, then he will not be able to run things properly and then the general public or the place where he is working will suffer loss. See, if any qualification is kept for something then there is a reason behind it like in India the IAS/PCS paper is considered very tough and there are a lot of interviews too, there you are selected above that because that person has a very high position. If you are working in a high position, you should have the capability to be worthy of that position and you should have such decision making power that you can maintain the dignity of that path or are worthy of being in that position. Many times it is seen that people reach high positions because of their acquaintances or known people, who are not even worthy of that position, but it is like that.
You might have seen many times that when a particular person joins a big company or becomes a leader, he tries to fit his friends and loved ones somewhere so that they too can benefit. You see, you have a very good bonding with your friends or some of your loved ones, so you want to take them along with you, but not everyone thinks like this, but many people by doing this take away the jobs of many innocent people and perhaps they do not even realize this. Many times we reach a position which we do not even deserve, but this should not happen.
If people are hired according to their abilities and skills, then perhaps life can change a lot. And this is also necessary, if nepotism ends then many things can change, the whole world will see, this is not a problem of one country, it is visible everywhere. See, if there is transparency in everything then maybe things will become much easier like whatever is happening should happen in a fair manner and everything should go live so that people can see so that there is transparency and people should have faith in it. See, nowadays it is very difficult to trust anything and we should also have doubts because the times have changed a lot these days. 1

A big thing that I don't see you recognize is loyalty. On a competitive environment such as loyalty, secrets are highly guarded and the people that hold those secrets have to give a sense of loyalty. This is true for government and private jobs. Is easy overlooking this when you are not in a position of power with the possibility of loosing a lot, because someone leaked something that could be used against you to knock you off your position.
So nepotism is not only common, but is useful. Yeah you might be great at your job, but how do I know you wont talk about certain actions that could make me look bad. This is some real world scenario when is better having a someone loyal and stupid than smart and unknown.
