A lot of history been told pops up in my head when I recite the national anthem of my dear country and I get to realize the true worth of their sacrifices while they were alive that could give way to such song composition. Moving around the city of Lagos in Nigeria, you would see some statues in memory of some past heroes, some buildings named in their names and many streets named after these people.

Now, what if after a period of time, after monuments and statues are done in recognition of their great impacts, and some hidden acts that serves as their closet errors comes to light and questions all that has been done in respect to their good deeds, are we supposed to remove all these that has been done?
Just like a recent article I wrote, no human is perfect and human will always be humans. The fact that we raise our expectations too much as soon as we see that someone has a good act or just did a good thing probably as a philanthropist calls for correction. We have believed and raise our expectations that he or she is an angel with no flaws which is not good enough.

However making mistakes as human doesn't justify some horrible acts some of us make, under the disguise of "I am human".
Some people commit horrible acts in the name of power and possession and choose to do good to the outside world and be seen as a descended angel on earth whereas their closet are filled with filthy crimes that can't be heard of.
But still yet, just like my tribe would say, that a child throwing away knife after it has cut his or her hand is not the solution because the knife had done its deed already. What am I trying to say? No matter how bad these people are that eventually looped out to the public to know and see, in as much as their statues has been done, it is not necessary to break them or demolish them. It should be left there to remember the good deeds they've done and to whoever received the bad deeds from them would also remember them for their bad deeds. Either the statues are there or removed, it doesn't erase whatever they've done or destroyed while they were alive or in power.

Just like when I go to some places in Lagos like I mentioned earlier, and I see the statue of MKO Abiola (a once philanthropist in Nigeria) and then I start to recollect all I've ever heard about him through my parents, and also read in the book of how great he was while he was still alive.
So just like that, let their statue be the primary attention of reminding the world of what they have done as good and bad while existing and also to coming generations.
No one is perfect to throw a stone first but all the same, we must also know that nothing is actually hidden under the sky and as long as we won't be there to defend ourselves of the wrong things we've done, no matter what may have led to the cause, then living a better life worthy of been emulated and not been questioned might be a better idea.

This just makes me remember the phrase 'let he who's without sin cast the first stone' in the end we're all human and we're bound to make mistakes. We can always remember them for the good things and forgive them for the bad ones...
Yeah that's it. Everyone wants to point a finger when theirs are also filthy..... Only that some people's cruel lifestyles too requires calling to order sha and that's why we must ensure we're not living a life that will cause us hell judgement right from earth
You're right mate To error is human but choosing cruelty injustice and causing pain to human is wrong.
The history is full of great leaders who shaped the world as well who ruined the world
You get my whole point 🫶 Not choosing a life worthy to be cursed in one's absence is the great way to live and not saying we choose to live bad cos human can't be perfect
