Fingers Doing The Judgement Instead Of The Law

That fateful night, I was listening to a station on the radio and a case of a father beating his child just to read her books was been discussed and for citizens to call in and give their verdict if they were meant to have a say in it. Trust me that I was not disappointed when I heard the callers crucifying the offender like he should be nailed on the cross. This shows that cancelling people isn't online alone anymore but everywhere.

Yes, it is wrong, it may be wrong and it may not be wrong because we are not aware of the full story of whatever we see online or offline since they didn't happen right before our eyes but murdering people already with our utterances or comments, outside the law is just not right.

But can we also blame the online lawmakers and judge? Maybe No because we all know that taking bad cases hot here in my country pushes the authorities to do their works most times as they know it's an open case that has attracted so much audience already. Like it makes me wonder how powerful gathered voices can work as virtual as it is, with just different people from different places and locations using their phones. It has brought down the arms of government in some intimidated acts and has also raised the hands of the forces to act diligently they should.

However, no matter how good this may sound, we can't be allowed to go extreme beyond our limits to just talk about it or our view and take about the situation or case and not passing our verdict, crucifying and destroying people right before they get to be destroyed or not. Either it's a case of a bad person doing bad to another bad person, our limits should be in check, leaving every verdict to the authorities and the law to perform their course.

The worse part is that some social media platforms are originally and specially known for doing this thing per say and you are always warned or even eventually terrified to visit those platforms for your regular contents because you don't want to be crucified and cancelled like they did to others. The funny part is that, these online judges are easily swayed by the first person post they see either it's a deceit manipulated story or not.

A once popular twin artists in my country have been having issues for years now alongside their big bro and seeing a post from a commenter few days ago made me smile. He said "I was attracted by your tears in your first story but I hope the court won't prove it to be lies because people will find it hard to believe you again" which definitely means they had passed on their judgements and crucified the bro or whoever without knowing or hearing the full story from both sides let alone waiting or allowing the court's order to be passed.

We can do better but I think awareness has to go out strong so that online people can always think twice before actually tapping on those keypad to give terminating comments online.
