Nepotism has actually kept Nigeria where it is today. That is why we can't get jobs any more. People are being asked who they know before any kind of government jobs is given out. What a country.
Hello friends welcome back. I just started talking about the topic of the day without even asking how we are all doing. While from the look of things I know we are surviving the heat out there. Looking at the topic for episode 2 of week 226. Nepotism. This is actually a very bad thing to practice in our societies. Alot are already suffering because of that.
First, let's look at the meaning of the word - nepotism. Nepotism is the act of favoring friends and relatives because of their relationship rather than because of their skills. This is what explains the fact that most politicians get jobs for even their unborn children who might end up not being qualified for while others who are very very qualified may never get that job instead they will bo going from one office to the other searching for jobs. Check most companies, industries and what have you, 50% of the people that work there don't even know what they are doing. Yet those who knows what they are doing are jobless.
ANOTHER DANGER
One of the most dangerous thing that I have witnessed is the fact that most people also buy their ways into offices and companies. I saw some people who graduated with me from the Nasarawa State College of Education Akwanga in the year 2019 who don't even know how to spell their names properly or make a correct sentence but they end up buying their ways into government jobs and at the end of the day they can't teach the students very well. First if that teacher used 500 k to buy the position of a teacher, what do you think will happen when he start to teach. First is to get the money back with interest before thinking of the children in the classroom. That teacher might only come to school once or twice in a week. This is the society we find ourselves in it.
INDIVIDUALS CAN'T UTILIZE THEIR POTENTIALS
Even though if I am the person involved who's uncle reserved a well paying job. I might never be serious about it. Or if I have paid heavily for a government job, I can't be so serious about that job because is all about the person that can pay well for the job and not for the person who is well qualified for the job. That is why nepotism is a very bad thing to practice, but unfortunately for us especially in Nigeria this is the order of the day here. Your qualifications don't matter enough. All that matters is who are you? Or who do you know? This is so funny, but is the truth and nothing but the truth.
In a way of summary, skills matters a lot. We can as well decide to favor a few individuals because of our relationship, but let's e sure they have the needed skills before bringing them in.
