Social media politicized in my country.

Happy Easter celebration to everyone, of course today is still Easter Monday and it is not out of place to wish us well. You are welcome back for this edition.

Social media and politics is the topic for week 162. The first edition for the week and I love the vibes that comes with the topic already. I believe that social media platforms are created for people to socialize. Meet other people from all parts of the world. Share ideas with them and connect for better tomorrow. It is also used to promote our cultures and values as we share them online with other people. Before now most of the people that enjoyed the social media platforms are entertainers. They use this mediums to showcase what they have and through this it is been preserved from one generation to another. But in our recent days every thing have changed. People now use the social media to do lots of things. Even the politicians use the social media alot for their activities and it has helped them reach more people than when it use to be done manually. Is not just them, every aspect of life today is in the social media. When you come to the issue of marriage is there, politics is there, fashion world is also there, health issues is found there too, psychology, sociology, education, even mathematics problems and solutions can be found in the social media space. I remember one day walking up to.my Lecturer and asking for something he thought us in class that I was not to clear about, he turned to me and asked me to go online and get the answer. I just smiled and left him, and truly when I went online and search I saw the answer and even more. That gladens my heart and I started using the social media to my own advantage as a student.

INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN POLITICS

Just like I noticed from the beginning, every area of life is in the social media today. So, politics will not be left behind. I noticed that our politicians use the social media platforms more than everyone these days. It has reduced the work of always hunting for people to vote them or give them support. Social media platforms has really helped them and work goes smoothly now. A lot of political activities today online and most times the politicians using the platforms will not want to give us informations as it is. They will give you what the want you to hear. Sometimes they claim that it is to reduce the problems already on grand. But I don't see it so. It is far beyond that, they only do that for their selfish ambition to be accomplished.

NOT A SAVE PLACE TO SPEAK OUT.
I have seen alot of people who go on social media platforms to say what they feel is good for the government and lost their lives at the process. Unless you say what the government of the day wants, you will be in trouble after saying it. As individuals we can't just go online to speak out the truth of what is happening in the country. So many lives have gone through that way. And we need to be wiser today.

ANYTHING TO BE CHANGED?
I think that the only thing I would love to change is the aspect of people saying their minds. People need to be allowed to bring constructive criticism. Any government that don't want people to talk against what they are doing and how they are doing it, will not go far. So, I believe that people need freedom of speech in our social media platforms. I know that people are still talking there, but after talking some lives disappears. All because of what? Politics. We need to put an end to this. Allow people talk, then pick what you need from what they have said and move on. That is how we should grow. No government should ever outgrown corrections.
