NO MORE WASTAGE

The practice of recycling in my place is left in the hands of a few individual who seems to understand it better. Before now when I don't know much on how old stuff can be recycled, most of our items were thrown into the waste basket and at the end we park everything to to a place where it will all be burnt. We never knew that some of those items can be recycled and used to produce new and beautiful things again.

For this second edition of week 160, we see recycling as something very important that people need to know about it and practice because this is not the time that things can be wasted. People now get new product from their old unused products.

HOW OFTEN DO WE RECYCLE?
This is what we do as often as we have old things to throw away. There is this particular place where we take them to and it is been recycled. Some of the ones that I enjoy is making new pots from the old ones that are not useful anymore. Sometimes what I take to them is the empty can of maltina. I have seen people use that to get new and beautiful pots from these Hausa people in charge of collecting old items to produce a new ones for people. The last time I visited them was seven years back when I gathered all my old outdated pots to make new ones. And when I came back after some days to collect it I was so happy to see that I now have new and beautiful pots. I still use those pots up till today because of how good those guys are in making the pots.

DO WE HAVE A RELIABLE RECYCLING SYSTEM IN MY COUNTRY?

As I noted when I started that it is only few individual who decided to make this their business. The government have nothing to do with this. I don't really know how they discovered that something like this is possible, but they have made lots of money from this recycling business. Before we thought that it was just a minor business because you will always see these boys going around from one street to another picking old items that were disposed by the owners. Gradually we noticed that it is been gather in a particular place and from time to time we will see cars coming to park those items to another place. That was when we discovered that it is a serious business that people can make money out of it. That was when we stop throwing those items away instead we sell to those boys who will in turn sell it to their buyers at the end of the day. Today, nothing is been thrown away anymore. People are wiser now. We gather all our old stuff and take them for sell so that it can be recycled and brought back to the society to be sold to us.

WHAT DO I DO WITH RECYCLABLE ITEMS?
sell them of course. I gather them up for the day of selling. And most times I will make sure I have gathered enough so that when I sell them I can use the money to replace one or two things. No wastage anymore. We recycle paper, catton, shoes, bags, clothes and even old pots.
