Keeping images for future generations

I see this as a very wonderful question that must of us are guilty of. Especially myself. Sometimes when I attend any function like wedding, birthday parties, burial ceremony, wedding anniversaries, house dedication, church programs and what have you. I make sure to take enough videos and pictures and without their permission I just go ahead and use them for my post here and also other social media platforms. Hmmm! I think that if someone wants to take legal action because of that I will be guilty as charged.

This is one of the random images I took in my village when I went for my in-laws burial.

YOUR FACE ALONE

Everyone has a right to take pictures and videos in public places. This is the truth. We all have our phones and some have very good cameras which temps to always take pictures everywhere we are. And we just go on and do it anyway. I think that my face belongs to me and people should not have access to it the way the want. I should be informed before anyone will do that. I think that sometimes I inform people before taken their images, but not all the time. You know the way you feel when you just pick up your phones and begin to take random pictures.

APPEARING IN RANDOM PICTURES OR VIDEOS

Is not now that you can just see someone send your image online without letting you know. But for me sometimes I am grateful that people have pictures of me. One day in a WhatsApp group that I belong I just saw someone drop pictures of me and other students when we went to educational visit to Kaduna state. I was surprised and happy at the same time. I didn't know that someone took those pictures until that day and the memories just came back. I was not sad with the person rather I was so happy because of that. So, though sometimes we need to take permission before taken the pictures, it still serve as memorial of any events tomorrow. So it has two sides: the good and the bad. If I refuse permission for people to take my pictures, how will they have something to hold onto when I am not there tomorrow? Look at it from a brighter side and losen up.

HOW WILL I FEEL IF I FIND MY IMAGE IN SOMEONE'S POST?

Well, let it just be a very good image, I will even copy it for my own use tomorrow. It should not be seen totally as something wrong. While we talk to people and ask them to be careful how to take my images without letting me know. They should also be allowed to have something to remember me tomorrow when I am gone.

My father never took a picture of himself before he died, so I never had anything to hold as long as his memory is concerned. I don't know him and he don't know me. Maybe if someone took a picture of him, it would have been of help to me too because I will know what he looks like. But is well

Memories captured in photos are priceless, but respecting people's privacy is equally important. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts.

It is very important to respect people's privacy. But while taking a picture or recording a video in a public place we can't start asking for each person's consent.
So, I feel it's okay. So far it is not used in an illegal way to to sway the public.

Thanks for sharing.

People have to be mindful of what picture to be posted. Thanks for sharing.
