GOVERNMENT OF THE RICH, BY THE RICH AND FOR THE RICH.

What is government? I believe that this should be our first question before asking what the government is meant for, or who is meant for.

For the second edition of week 202, The topic says - Government of the Rich. The topic is suggesting if the government is fr the rich because it abandons the poor masses and make laws that favors only the rich and the wealthy in the society. In most cases the people that even make the law are only tje rich. The poor don't even get the opportunity to make their own contributions. So it is only what the rich put down as a law that works, and most of the places those laws don't affect the rich. People who makes the law, hardly get caught by the law, because somehow they seems above the law. And because of the above stated reasons, I believe that our government is the government for only the rich.

I don't know much about other continent, but in mine especially in Africa and Nigeria to be prices, the poor don't get recognized. They are kept aside and never recognized in so many ways. Let look at these areas in our government:

  1. Job opportunities: Most of the government officials don't remember the poor in the society when given out jobs. The jobs are reserved for their children, relatives, friends and those who are wealthy enough to pay for the jobs.
  2. Health Care Facilities: Nigeria don't have a good health facilities and because of that most poor people die as a result of that. The rich and influencial people travel outside of the country to receive good treatment when they are sick. And all of that is possible because of the government money they have access to. The poor can't provide such money so they stay behind here in Nigeria and die of diseases that can be cured outside of the country. Why not bring that kind of hospital to Nigeria and makes it a better place for everyone? No. They won't do so, because the government takes very good care of them, they forget the poor masses and do not even take to mind that one day, they will come down to meet these same people when their tenure is up.
  3. Quality Education: Practically our education here in Nigeria has died down or is about to die, which ever way you want to see it. Starting from Senior Secondary schools, students now graduate with grades they can't defend. Go to government schools you will discover that students who are about to go to the higher institution can't even write their names properly. Teachers are not ready to teach them, but you will notice that most of these our government officials send their children outside of this country to get the best education. They all know that what we have here is rubbish. What do they do about it? Nothing. They just send their own children abroad to study while the children of the poor masses school here in Nigeria.
  4. Development: The rich people only focus on themselves and build the kind of houses they desire. Take care of the road that leads to their houses, but the main road that everyone uses is not taken care of. When you travel through the high ways in Nigeria you will understand what I am talking about. Most of these government officials collect money from the government in pretence that they will fix our roads, but nothing will be done after years of eating that money. If anyone tries to construct the road it will be what will not last for five years.

There is still more to talk about. But let me just drop the pen here.
Thanks for stepping in.

There's nothing like egalitarian society, it's the rich for the rich and vice versa. Selfish interest is really killing us.
