Can we kick out pollution from our cities?

Pollution can be seen as Physical contamination, especially the contamination of the environment by harmful substances, or by disruptive levels of noise, light etc. This definition is from the dictionary and can be trusted. When you move around some areas in Nigeria, you will know the definition of pollution without looking at the dictionary. Our streets are bad because of the way and manner people use them.

HOW BAD IS THE POLLUTION IN MY AREA?
Hmmmm! The only way I can talk about how bad the pollution in my area is by showing us some pictures. Immediately I saw the topic I told myself that the only perfect place to use as an example is my street. If you get to the end of my street, is it so bad that you won't want to walk pass there. I don't know why it is like that, but that is how we also packed in there and saw what was happening. Everyone in the streets will bring all their waste and dump it there. When we noticed that it was becoming very bad, we started asking them not to drop their waste there. At first it was causing problem between us and later some people starting taking their waste somewhere else to throw. In some months time we noticed that people will come in the middle of the night to throw waste there. We will just wake up in the morning to see different things near our houses. When it came to that level we don't really know what to do again. That is how they started coming back even in the day time to throw their waste too because most times we go out in the morning to come back in the afternoon or evening.

HOW ARE WE AFFECTED BY THIS ACT?
No one that lives around there that is happy with what people are doing. We have tried to stop them, but it seems like our efforts is not enough so we decided to let it be. How can you be happy to see waste around your house? Except a mad person. But every normal person will not be happy seen that.

WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKING TO STOP THIS POLLUTION?

We have tried to move from house to house to enlighten the people on the important of keeping your environment clean. We have also tried by standing outside most times to send people back with their waste, but instead they start coming in the night while we are asleep to throw their waste. I think we have all tried, but our people enjoy polluting the street. So, what we do is to make sure our houses are clean and also outside. But for the end of the street we have decided to let it be.

CAN IT STOP NOW?
I believe that the only way it will stop is when someone buys that land and start a building project there. And I have been praying to see that day when all of these will stop. It is possible that it will stop soon when it is sold out.
