African parenting,

(edited)

In Africa, our parents serves as the God that we can see. We don't joke with our parents and we don't intend to start now. Despite the fact that things are no more the way it use to be before when children don't talk back at their parents, children can't stand face to face with the parents and answer questions. Such child is those days is regarded as a worthless child. If it was in the olden days such child will be banished from the land for talking back at the parents. Things have changed now. But that does not mean that we should disrespect our parents in such a manner.

The image belongs to me.

How can a child sue the parents? What effrontery? How can a child think of doing such a thing like that? Is not possible because the land will not forgive you. People around you will even help to kill you before your parents will harm you.

WHY NOT?
Because from the beginning, our parents gave us life. After birth, they took very good care of us from the creddle. All the troubles we gave them, they all endured it been patients with us and praying that we will one day grow and become responsible to take care of our needs. Should we use them now that we all grown just because they did something we don't like? I don't think that it is good.

Secondly, some of these our parents sold their lands, clothes, houses etc when we were in one crises or the other. Just to see that we were okay. Most times you will see children learning one bad habits or the other, yet the parents still continue to take care of them and also pray for them to change. Sometimes the society will write a child off because of a bad behavior in that child. But the parents will still hold unto faith and never gave up on their child. So, what will my parents do today that will warrant me to sue them? Even if they punish me wrongly, does that give me the right to sue them? Never. I can't do that. I see it as a sin to the most high God. Is a sin because God who knows the best for me placed me under them so that they can give me all the training that will help me become a better person in the future.

CAN OUR PARENTS MAKE A MISTAKE?
Definitely humans are bound to make mistakes once in a while. Even myself do make mistakes, did they throw me away? Did they give up on me? Did they sue me? I think that is pay back time for me. If they waited on me to grow and change to a better person, then this is my own turn to be patient with them even if they are wrong in punishing me.

In conclusion, our parents should be respected no matter what, if they go wrong, we can correct them with all respect. Nothing like sueing our parents.

Exactly, everyone is prone to mistakes, and that doesn't mean they should face justice for it. Parental authority should prevail over the children.

I think that if a child can sue his parents for me to be legally disabled, but now the reality is very different when I was a child, in my area also currently parents are no longer allowed to hit their children, if they are reported to the police may run a legal process, I think these two are even more chaotic if this happens to parents.

Yeah. Parents should also be careful how we treat our children

Thanks so much for this insightful thought. Parents are like the foundation of life. Just imagine the roof telling foundation hey you're not important and I can do without you.

Suing parents is not a good thing to be done .

Ohhhh! You see. That is why we should not give our children such right.

In Africa, it is a tradition to see your parents as gods. They are like supreme beings. Although some parents go overboard when correcting children, I don’t think allowing children sue their parents is the right approach.
